Been looking at the Breitling SuperOcean Heritage (just looking, not planning to buy), and I'm not really a huge fan of the watch, though it doesn't strike me as being particularly ugly either. The 46mm size is alright, though the choice of bracelets being the rubber Ocean Racer or Ocean whatever the Mesh one is called leaves much to be desired in my opinion.

The new Rubber strap it comes with is quite a bit nicer than the standard rubber strap, with the metal flip-lock clasp on it too... what do you guys think?

That watch just does not speak "Breitling" to me. Seems all watch makers have to use that bezel at some time or another. A long distance glance would scream fake Rolex to me. Just my opinion.

Looks like a Rolex to me.

I'm out.

I looked at the 46mm blue face heritage at Tourneau on Saturday. I agree with admin on the choice of bracelets. I don't think it's that bad, I kind of like the simplicity and the shade of blue is nice, but the mesh bracelet seems kind of feminine to me and I don't like the look of the rubber bracelets.

If I wanted a Rolex I'd buy a Rolex. The mesh bracelet is a bit of a throwback to some bracelets of the 60s, but doesn't seem right on a modern watch, and while I agree that the rubber is better than most rubber straps, that's like saying that kissing your favourite sister is better than kissing the other sisters :)

SIMPLE,

1. It's way too plain
2. No Sub Dials
3. If it doesn't have the option of a linked bracelet it's worthless
4. It is not just a matter of opinion when it comes to rubber, RUBBER IS SICK Unless you are a diver.
5. The mesh bracelet is cheap looking
6. Still better looking than a Panerai but still bad
7. NOT a cool Ling
8. Still not as bad as Lings with yellow or red dials
9. Doesn't look like a Ling from a distance
10. May be a 1/4 Ling with a Pilot bracelet if that's possible

In understand the reasoning for the design of the watch and bracelet. I like the thinking behind recreating a classic using some of its destinctive characterisitcs with modern materials and methods. I wouldnt however buy one for the same reason I wouldnt buy 60's styled sunglasses.

They could have made it a bit more edgy and aggresive looking while keeping the unique features the original Superocean had.

The things I dont like most about it are the bracelet and its very plain and understated looks. There are a lot of other Lings that I would buy before I would buy the SO Heritage

IMHO, boring dial; I hate the crown; the large size is too big while the smaller size is too small; it doesn't have the proper Breitling "look" to it; the mesh bracelet is simply an absolute abortion; and the rubber is.... well.... rubber! No, no, no, NO!

It just looks very docile to me...but what is so "Heritage" about it, a definition of the word heritage and it states: something that is passed down from preceding generations; a tradition....does it have a retro look or something?

It's based on the old school Breitling SuperOcean.. I wrote a real short bit in my blog about it in the summer:

The historical aspect adds a little coolness in my eyes...still not worth a purchase, but worth a look...wonder why they did away with the sub dials

Hi breitlingsources

Well, this watch extremely polarizes, since it just doesn't fit into the Breitling range.

If you like the masculine look of the majority of the B-range (loaded bezel and dials, a lot of text on the dial etc.) than this watch is not for you.

When I first saw it, it hit me like a lightning: I loved the design of the 38mm-version (sub-seconds, plain and rugged look). But according to my own taste it's just a bit too small for a men's watch. 40 - 42 mm would be great. 46mm on the other hand are way too huge! Besides, I don't like the fact, that there's a tiny 2824 ticking in it (almost 50% of the diameter is empty, what a waste of space).

I think, Breitling wants to get access to new customer groups, that's why they offer the SOH.

V.

Slightly ammended.

I was quite impressed with the first pics I had seen of the 46mm Brown heritage on mesh. I thought it was a very good looking, elegant diver. I've read a few posts of people trying them on and the common opinion was that it felt cheap, not worthy of the price point.

If I found the brown 46mm for a bargain price, I might give her a ride, but other wise, no.
