Hi All,

Well this is the second part of my new watch buying spree from a month or so back. Initially I was going to buy two Breitlings, an SA and 6.75 but I changed my mind once this Panerai came available at my local Boutique AD and went with just the 2008 SA as per my other thread. Please welcome a GEN Panerai 111K. This is such a fantastic piece and im so happy I went with this model over the 104 (which I was also very closely considering). I guess the reasons for this were the sandwich dial and display back. I've tried to capture all different angles of this dial. It truly is something special to behold. Please excuse the million and one pictures - I went a little snap happy this afternoon.

I need to reshoot my SA to the same standard as I have my Panerai. It certainly deserves it. For now enjoy some Panerai action.

Looks absolutely fantastic. Really nice photo skills you have there! I am looking at this exact same watch for my next purchase, later this spring. Your pictures make me want mine even more. Congrats.

I prefer this watch most out of all the Luminor Base models. I am also trying to figure out how to get one this year as well. It looks great and the pictures show how beautiful the sandwich dial truly is.

Just out of curiousity would you mind sending me a PM and telling me what the cost was on this?

I was quite lucky that even with the AUD being pretty horrible at present, our AD's (both Breitling and Panerai) haven't yet changed RRP in line with the fall in the dollar. As a result I picked up my SA for like $4004 AUD (2700 USD) and the 111K at $6400 AUD (4300 USD). The SA had a 30% discount at the AD but the Panerai is at full list. What you need to remember is that the AUD was 1:1 to the USD 4 months back and it would've been cheaper to buy from the USA and ship to AUS - but with the current situation, its cheaper to buy in AUS until the RRP increases dramatically.

Beutifull watch, I love my 111 J but might sell it and get a K just for the quick strap change mechanism.

And those straps are very nice, especially the Ted Su one. Can you link to the product page please? Might get me one of those.

Enjoy those watches, great choices.

Ted's available at www.teddy-straps.com.

Altair the strap change system came into effect on J series and on Panerai models. The 000/005/111/112/176/177 did not come with this though in J or K series. Only the Auto models up come with this as far as I can see. I was surprised when I opened my PAM and it didn't come with it as I was expecting it. No big deal though - just gotta be careful when flipping those straps.

Bummer, there are some places you can get around 15% off MSRP on them.

So I didnt do too badly.. RRP is $5700 USD and I paid $6400 AUD ($4300 USD). Which was full AUD retail.

Basically it means I got a 25% discount on the USD price.

Oustanding looking watch! I think those tan/gold coloured leather straps look great with it. The contrast looks better than the black even.
You gave me an idea for my black dial Seawolf!
Cheers,
Carl
