First time I have seen a Hercules, is in these postings. It really is an unusual, and very substantial looking piece! It is, to me, one of those timeless pieces, that you wonder why they discontinued it. On the other hand, if they still had the piece, it would then not be as exclusive. Sometimes this makes a watch even more special.
At one point, I would have thought that of the AS Blacksteel. I have one of only 2000 pieces. No sooner was that sold out, than they introduced the SA Blacksteel with 3000 pieces. To me, they are so similar, albeit different sizes and models, that it reduces the exclusivity of the AS Blacksteel. Wish they would have done something a bit different.
Cheers,
Carl

Thanks Guys.

Yes the Herc is exclusive enough that in 3 years of watch collecting (bought and sold well over 120 watches), I never came across it until last week. This is my 6th B'ling, so I've spent alot of time on these forums, yet this watch eluded me. I only found it because I did an eBay search for the Skyracer and somebody used the word skyracer in his title to sell a Herc. It has many of the same qualities as the Chrono Avenger Sixty Nine that I thought was so nice until I found out the 69 was quartz. The herc is much like an Auto CA 69. To me there is just something about the classic layout of tricompax subdials that is so reminiscent of the chrono icons like the Speedy, Navi, and Daytona, yet it is unique as it is larger, beefier and more substantial than all of those classics. A modern classic maybe?

The Herc seems to polarize people, some love it, some hate it. A search on TZ revealed that it didn't get alot of love.

I don't think that pics capture the sheer bruteness of this watch. The huge 4mm thick links on the bracelet, the beefier than normal clasp, the 26mm bracelet width at the lugs... all just look normal in pics because of the lack of scale. I will shoot some comparison pics with my other 44mm+ watches when I get some time and good light, and then the beauty of the Herc will reveal itself. One thing that needs mentioning is that this watch is less than 16mm thick which makes the big watch very wearable. It fits under shirt sleeves and doesn't feel like a hockey puck on the wrist.

This watch is a keeper, no doubt about it. In fact I might even let a couple watches go to fund a white dialed herc :lingsrock:

It's good to hear that it wears nicely. This is my only worry about this watch that it might be too big/heavy to be practical.

It is very big and heavy, and that's why I like it. I do find myself taking it off a fair bit though because of the very same reasons.

I think it depends on what you are used to. I don't feel this watch on my wrist any more than the rest of my collection, which consists of other 44mm watches, like PAM 111, Fortis B-42 Cosmo Chrono, Doxa T-Graph, B for B Motors. If you wear 44mm steel watches, then this will be right at home. The extremely thick and wide bracelet balances this watch perfectly, and IMHO balance is more important than size. If it balances well, then the weight is evenly distributed and it wears comfortably. Although this watch is big, its not in the same league as the SA and not as tall.
