Croc but I might go with Tang style buckle. Looks more comfortable, no break-in process plus its $240 less expensive.

As the dial is white I believe you'll get a stunning look with a lot of different colors, not just black. I would not be afraid to go for a blue or green strap, or even more bold.

I have always liked the croco straps way more than the calf ones, so my personal view is absolutely a croco one.

Mario: You should really try a deployant - they are way more comfortable than the tang and buckle IMHO. And, you would also need a bit of break-in-time for a tang and buckle - that goes with the leather, not the closing mechanism. :)

I have worn an Arabic black dial SA with calf and deployant and it was awesome - totally comfortable.

I guess my question is more specific to which looks better with the batons dial, croc or calf?

I think either are fine with the Arabic dial but am not sure about batons.

My personal answer is still croco - both for batons and arabics.

The white dialed SA never gets old to me, what a beauty! I am working on a couple strap options right now for my two Breitling watches. I have already tried the custom non-Breitling route on my Super Avenger. :| Although I liked the strap, I have decided that the Breitling OEM looks the best. I think it would be nice to have a mix of croco and calf leather, I don't think you can go wrong with the white dial. I am goind to try and locate a green croco on deployant. I will let you know how it turns out.

Guys what strap would you suggest works best with this dial?

Black croc?
Black calf?

(on deployant of course)

I think either would look great! As said previously, try various colours and combos. You can see a sample pic here on the Japanese website:
http://www.breitling.co.jp/fitting/index.php?a03" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

Click on the silver case first, then select dial and strap/bracelet.

Both SA and Panerai are great! That strap on the Panerai is beautiful, and looks exceptional with the black dial!

Cheers,
Carl

Go with the deployment clasp over the tang buckle for sure, it's worth it.

Does it become more comfortable with wear? I tried one before and didn't like it much.

My leather strap with the tang buckle took forever to break in and is still uncomfortable to wear so I rarely if ever wear it. I don't have personal experience wearing a deployment clasp on a daily basis, but it has to be better than the tang buckle.

I have both, I have both brown and black calf's on buckle for my SA/NW and my Cosmo is on a black croco deployant. To be honest I can't say I notice the difference in comfort between the two.

Given the price of the croco, I think deployant is the way to go if it reduces wear to the strap. For me both my calf straps get used intermittently between two watches and even then they 'share' the watch with the original stainless bracelets so wear isn't too much of an issue for me.

I purposely bought my Cosmo on a croc deployant because I just love the overall look and as I wasn't planning to change the strap for a bracelet and vice versa, I chose what I thought would make it the most cost effective in the long run.

All of my straps have taken a while to break in, probably the tang buckle pair quicker than the croc.

Hope that helps.

Stef

P.S The brown calf on the white baton SA looks fab, sorry I don't have a photo to hand.

Personally I'd ALWAYS go for deployant over tang & buckle. Firstly, there's the wear issue (which should be reason enough considering the cost of Breitling straps.... especially croco! ). Secondly, it just looks more classy IMHO. And thirdly, it's infinitely adjustable so you can get the absolute perfect fit.

Jay man, your pics are awesome. Especially the outside ones. What time of day was it when you took those pics? The lighting really seemed to set off and highlight the brightly polished case and bracelet. Well done. And great watch, thats my next one for 2009.

:woohoo:
