Wow, I just received the Hercules, and am blown away. This is a fantastic watch and I question Breitling's decision to discontinue it.

I'll write a full review with pics over the next few days.

Congratulations. Looking forward to it. The white dial Hercules is one of my favojurites. Am checking ebay for it from time to time ... .

Congrats on the new acquisition! I love the Herc, but really couldn't get over the lack of a date given all the other cool features, but it is a nice watch nonetheless... I ended up with a Skyracer momentarily before selling it within a day! Maybe I will buy it back tho :D

Thanks! True adding the date would make this a better watch, in fact that might make it the "perfect" watch in my opinion, but what fun would the "perfect" watch be?? Then we would have no reason to keep looking. :D

Any idea what year was the last year that the herc was included in the Chronolog?

2006... info on the site is based on chronolog appearance generally, unless the watch has been recently released, but I usually try and keep it based on Chronolog.. and of course unless i goofed the info :D

Is the Hercules still being produced or is the only option to find one online? What dial choices were available (if it is out of production)? or can someone point me in another direction to find one?

Thanks,

Ross

I just discovered this model last week... ya I know I'm still a Breitling newbie, but here is what I know so far. It is out of production since 2006, but there are still a few online and eBay dealers selling NOS pieces. It comes in white with silver subdials, black/grey with silver subdials (like mine), black/grey with matching subdials, and blue with silver subdials... there may be others.

OK guys, can someone tell me what the inner chapter ring scale is used for ? The one with the red and white numbers. I don't get it. For example, from noon to 6:00 going clockwise it covers 0-180, but then you would expect 90 to be at the 3:00 position, it isn't. Is it some kind of compass scale or tachy type of scale? I see how it says 30 35 and then 40 45 are directly opposite on the ring, then 50 55 opposite side again and so on. Tried googling but all I found was how to us ethe watch to find north and subsequently hold a bearing (which I already knew). Is there a guide online anywhere that I could reference for the inner chapter ring?

I think I found the answer... yet it still seems there is no definitive consensus among the pilots on TZ. It seems that the inner chapter ring is just a visual reminder of flight levels for planes flying eastbound (scale from 12:00 - 6:00 clockwise) and those flying westbound (6:00 - 12:00 clockwise). The numbers marked in white are acceptable flight levels while those in red are not. ie: 30 = 3,000ft is OK, while flying eastbound, but 3500ft feet is no good. If flying westbound, 4000ft is OK while 4500ft is no good etc. Makes sense to me.

That was strange - I posted my reply right after your post about going to write the review, but I find it way further down. It makes my reply seem very odd.

However, congratulations again and the pictures are great - especially the wrist shot, that's art!
