Hi everyone, this is my first post as im new to this forumand i am very impressed on all the information, facts anjd help on this site...

i have been a devoted breitling wearer for many years no and over the times have owned a B1, B2 and a superoceanand my favourite aerospace.

I have owned the aerospace since 200 and the battery finally gave up a couple weeks ago and because i travel around and the cost and inconvience intailled to send it away a got and AD technician to change the battery onsite with a original one, i was told when this was done that all the seals and gaskets were in very good cxondition as this is the first time the watch has been opened since new.

since the battery has been replaced it is running like a dream and haven't had any problems, my only concern is that the AD technician was unable to pressure test it due to the machine being out of order.

I really do not want send it off as it has a new battery and is working perfectly but am a bit worried about getting it wet or near steam etc!!!

does anyone have any advice or expierence with this and what is the best course to take. i live in south london and was wondering if needed where abouts any on site pressure tester are??.
any other advice or knowledge about the aerospace would be very much appricated..

If you just find a local watchmaker in your area he should have the machine.

As RJRJRJ says, any watchmaker should have one - certainly any AD should and will likely not charge for something so simple.

I am in the same situation. My first watch, Aerospace+UTC from 1997 indicated EOL for the battery two weeks ago (after it received a new battery in 2000 for the last time).
Shipped to Breitling, 1.5 hours drive from my house, and they recommend a complete overhaul. Total price $600 :shock:
With such an "old" watch I believe it would be best to have all seals replaced etc.

Thank's every1, i'm just struggling to find a local watchmaker who is respectable and trust worthy enough to leave my watch with them in london and all the AD's locally dont hold the pressure tester!
I was thinking of getting a full service but it seem's to be working perfectly and is about £350 for a full service which dont think it really need's as it doesn't lose or gain any time at all and all the functions work perfect!!

Just Really want to get the pressure test done just to ease my mind that it's ok to be near water and if it does fail will get all the seal's and gaskets replaced as isn't quite as dear at £100.

Wow, did I read this right your battery lasted 8 years?

What kind of use did you put your Aerospace through? Did you have it on digital clock a lot, use the alarm? I'm just wondering as I typically don't use the alarm very much, only when I know I need to get up. But I tend to have the digital display showing either the current time, or the seconds and date.

Sorry, can't help on the water test.

Yeah Wall man,

My battery lasted just over 8 and a half year's, i wear the watch every day and i always have it set on the date and day, i never use the alarm and very rarely use the timers and other features just if i'm bored and play around with the feature's!! The aerospace is by far the most reliable watch i have owned and is holding time perfectly and haven't had any problem's with it at all.. Just dont want it to all get ruined now if it's not pressure tight, how long did your battery last?

Chris Heal http://www.chealwatch.co.uk/ does pressure testing for £25 and has a good reputation on TZ-UK but is usually pretty busy.

Did a quick Google search and found this place near Oxford Circus which does it.

Thanks for that info. I just got mine last year in August. Not sure how long it was in the dealer display, but I when I looked at it they didn't have any digital readout.

Hmm, I just noticed that on my bracelet I have two different date stamps, a T 3407 and a W 4507, not sure what the date on my watch as I haven't pulled out the bracelet. I figure worst case the watch was about a year old when I bought it.

So I hope to get a good 4 years or more. I've always noticed that the original battery seems to last like forever. The same thing happened with my Tag, I'm sure that battery lasted like 5+ years.

That's cool Wall man,, yeah battery's are very good and sure will last a long time like mine did, you'd a get warning anyways cos of the EOL indicator... My aerospace is a 2000 model but has the pro2 bracelet (01-07) on it when i bought it instead of the gastley old style one,prob the same as yours mate- which make's the watch i think!, is your's the new advantage or the 01-07 model as may give you a indication on date, as for the dates on your bracelet it's prob just that the AD did a bit of bracelet mix and matching, it's happened to a couple of my mates in the past.. Dunno if helped much but ther ya go.
