Hi All.

I recently purchased a Chronomat / Chronomat Evolution. I am now a little confused as I have understood that the Chronomat was the new / updated version of the Evolution.

It all started a few weeks ago when I purchased the watch from my AD. In the box was a user manual for a Chronomat Evolution and the little yellow plastic tag was labeled the same. However my AD had to send away to Breitling for the COSC certificate and waranty book which took 2 weeks to arrive. When it did I received a new user manual labeled Chronomat.

I have emailed Breitling to ask the question and they have told me that infact the Chronomat Evolution is the newer model.I should now no longer be confused yet I am.

Any words of wisdom from my fellow Breitlingsource members???????

Thanks in advance.

WD

OK, this one's easy (sort of).

The modern Chronomat was launched in 1984 and carried on with minor changes until 1996.

It was relaunched in 2001 and that continued until 2004.

In 2005 the watch was updated and renamed the Chronomat Evolution, and that name continued through 2007.

Last year the Chronomat Evolution was renamed to simply the Chronomat, although there were no changes beyond a couple of dial colour variations.

Wow that was a fast response :) thanks

Maybe this would help as this is one of my sources of confusion. The email below was received today from Breitling after sales.

"Dear Mr D

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding your recently
purchased Breitling watch.

I can confirm that our sales offices have recently distributed your
watch, with the serial number XXX1711, and model number A13356, and
advise me that it should have a grey dial.

The model number A13356 refers to the new Chronomat Evolution. The
Chronomat Evolution is the newer model - it took over from the standard
Chronomat in 2004 and is still currently in production. The Chronomat
Evolution is larger than the old Chronomat, and has a larger, Evolution
Pilot bracelet.

I am sorry for any confusion that may have been caused, and the problems
you have experienced in getting the correct paperwork for your watch.

I hope that situation has now been resolved however if you have any
further queries, or if I can be of any assistance, please do not
hesitate to contact me.

Kindest regards

XXXX

Well, the Chronomat Evolution / Chronomat are now the same watch, although the name was changed post last year's Basel, I guess it depends on how the watch is referred to internally at Breitling - or when they changed the name to Chronomat (i.e. watches produced before x date are Chronomat Evolution, the identical watch produced afterward is called a Chronomat).

Either way, it's the same watch and you have a beauty!

As stated, same watch. If you have any nagging doubts, just check the date stamp between the lugs at 6 o'clock and youll get the manufacture date.

It's a same watch from 2004 til present. It was called Chronomat Evolution from 2004-2007.
Prior 2004 and after 2007 it was (is) called just Chronomat.
