After telling him that the blackbird is based on the Chornomat, but is only in black dial plus the big date complication, he said that that was not true, and that they could get a Blackbird with many other dial colors.

   I couldn't resist....
I get scared when I hear stories like this one!
What happens when we buy a second-hand Beitling from an AD, what guarantees to us that it is 100% authentic?
The 7$/hour high-school employee (who is sporting a CASIO?)
I mean if you cant recognize the difference between a TAG and a NAvitimer :x.

One day, I would love to walk in an AD with the Breitling BlackBird replica (the one everyone "thinks" is almost 100% accurate)
and attempt to trade it in for something; I would love to see what would happen, maybe videotape it and send it to Breitling
(maybe get a watch as a reward 8) )...
I would love to go "undercover" for Breitling (all this with their consent, of course) 8) 8)

I hope something like this would never be able to happen? Are you saying that there is a replica that is so close, that even when the case back is taken off you can't tell by looking at the movement it's a fake?

Of course, in the Chronomat line you can find many different colours, and although the Blackbird is based on the Chronomat, is not a regular Chronomat, its a blackbird and (as Driver said) brand new models are only available in black.

its like saying the Corvette is a Chevrolet.... NO WAY...

The BlackBird should be a distinct model........ 8)

Spartan, it would be funny if you tried your little replica experiment at an AD... just don't go to prison over it. ;)

I had the displeasure of actually holding in my hands the BB replica; the person wearing it was NOT honest with me. :guns:
When I asked him if it was real, he refused to say anything. So I asked him to give it to me; I took it in my hands.
My observations:

----It looks pretty good :x
----the bluish hue was indeed there
----I thought the bracelet was a tad off; something wasn't right
----I also thought the whole watch was kinda light

I hope no body gets fooled by this

Any one else come accros this POS :?:

I was walked into an AD in Atlantic City and asked if they had a White dial SA. The Sales woman, said yes, and proceeded to show me a white dialed Evo. She even Quoted me two seperate prices..one for the Watch head and another price for the Bracelet which came to MORE then the MSRP! I told her her no, I want to see a SA . Annoyed, she motioned to the EVO and said..."It's right here". I was wearing my EVO, and the AD did have A black Dial SA in the case, I proceeded to explain to her what the differences between the two were. This got her even more annoyed as she told me she had been selling Breitling for 4 plus years and KNOWS the difference. At that point another sales person over heard our "argument" came over and confirmed that it was an EVO and they had no White dia SA. She walked away without even an apoology. Before I left I let her know that maybe sales isn't her forte.
Just confirms that even though a jeweler is an AD you have to find one who knows their merchandise and always buy from one who you feel comfortable with.

There are lot of reps with signed rotor but they can be spotted.

I think if there was a person who could make a fake breitling to look so good that you couldn't tell it was a fake even with the back off, it would be so expensive it would almost be cheaper to get a real one. Plus, why would you spend that much for a fake?

One just can't make a perfect fake.

It is kind of weird, but my AD here (who has gone to the Breitling sponsored courses) still knows less about these watches than most of us. Remember, we're fanatics...they just sell the stuff. Not to say that it is not a good idea to know as much about the product as you can, but nevertheless I don't think too many AD's spend quite as much time discussing the intricacies of one brand as we do. :lingsrock:

:yeahthat TL has a great point!!! I personally spend a silly amount of time on this forum and learning about lings. I am certain that 99.999% of ADs and their employees do not spend anywhere near that. :?

:yeahthat Both are good points made. It is kind of funny how much time I spend learning about Breitling watches. It's gotten to the point where I have considered getting into the watch industry? I still think that the sales people should know there stuff, maybe not as much as say Roff, Driver8, or bnewbie seem to know about Breitlings. :P
