G'day guys!

A while ago I visited the AD in Melbourne, wanting to enquire about a new bracelet/strap and service for my A13330. Can you believe my shock and horror when the sales rep glanced down at my wrist and said "We don't do Tags here!" @#$% I thought! Not that there's any thing wrong with Tags  , but......

I was a little disturbed, to say the least.

Anyone here had similar experiences? Just curious.

Jim

Kind of hard to mistake a Navitimer for a Tag. I mean really. The salesperson must have been either very new or plain dumb or does not care about watches and usually concentrates on selling actual jewelry in the store (that pays a bit better commission that watches). Either way, shouldn't have happened and I hope you corrected him/her

KRLYUZH,
I certainly did correct her and promptly left the store without purchasing anything or booking in a service. I'd rather fly up to Sydney......

In2Deep,
No joke. Just didn't know her stuff.

I don't want to offend any Tag owners, bit I gotta tell ya - I WAS OFFENDED, a little!

It is indeed a bit worrying when the employees at an AD won't recognize their brand. I would have insisted to talk to the shop owner, giving him the hint to educate his/hers employees. And then, probably left without buying.

The Navi is the one watch in the B lineup that you have to be an idiot to mistake for a Tag.

It does amaze me sometimes that knowing at least a little about watches and watch brands isn't a pre-requisite for sales staff at a lot of AD's. I mean I wouldn't employ a Business Analyst at my place if they didn't know anything about business analysis!

Obviously this is not meant as a sweeping generalisation across the board as some are VERY knowledgeable indeed, but I've been told things (and overheard other customers being told things) by some sales assistants that are actually totally incorrect.

That reminds me when, the other day, in Goldsmiths - Gatwick Airport, the sales assistant confused a Blackbird with a Chronomat evolution.

After telling him that the blackbird is based on the Chornomat, but is only in black dial plus the big date complication, he said that that was not true, and that they could get a Blackbird with many other dial colors.

I left the store in less than 1 min.

Might see if I can get myself a Whitebird, or maybe a Bronzebird this week.

   I couldn't resist....
I get scared when I hear stories like this one!
What happens when we buy a second-hand Beitling from an AD, what guarantees to us that it is 100% authentic?
The 7$/hour high-school employee (who is sporting a CASIO?)
I mean if you cant recognize the difference between a TAG and a NAvitimer :x.

One day, I would love to walk in an AD with the Breitling BlackBird replica (the one everyone "thinks" is almost 100% accurate)
and attempt to trade it in for something; I would love to see what would happen, maybe videotape it and send it to Breitling
(maybe get a watch as a reward 8) )...
I would love to go "undercover" for Breitling (all this with their consent, of course) 8) 8)

There certainly was in the older style blackbird. Current model is black all the way.

Just to clarify.

When he was saying 'other colours', he was talking about the range of colours you can find in the Chronomat line of watches. We were talking about brand new models only.

Of course, in the Chronomat line you can find many different colours, and although the Blackbird is based on the Chronomat, is not a regular Chronomat, its a blackbird and (as Driver said) brand new models are only available in black.

This guy didn't know the difference between the two, and his ignorance about the brand immediately putted me off.
