I agree with your comments about La Swiss Carl, If you get the right person they are OK but I have found them to be a bit like walking through a Kasbah, always a bit too pushy for me and you just know the bottom line is dollars and cents in that particular branch, not customer satisfaction! I am sure that other branches are much better but have no experience of them. Also I find that considering they are sell high end items and specialize in watches their technical knowledge is woefully inadequate IMHO

I know they say they are also able to service Breitlings but I can't see how that can be on site as it is one fellow in the corner of the store, whereas T&G have a dedicated workshop above the store. I have found T&G's discounts to be on par with La Swiss but way better service. It always reminds me of a bootmaker in London that I used to go to years ago, you were treated with value and respect and always that you were a customer for life regardless of if it was your first or multiple visit. For the sort of money spent on these watches I want that kind of service, not to be frank, a mall experience which the other one offers!

Could not have said it better myself! It is true that all these things, at least for you and I, affect the purchase and the value to us. I have often walked away from a purchase at one location, and purchased the same product at another location, sometimes even if the cost is more. The experience I have with the sales people is of utmost importance to me. The owner of T & G sold me my SuperOcean, in 1997, and last year I purchased my next Breitling, ten years later. He did not sell it to me personally, and I would not expect that he would remember me either, but I have dealt with him on various occasions withing the last year, and he is just as helpful and professional as he was 10 years ago. His genuine warmth and personal skills are reflected in all of his staff. My Father was very successful in life, both personally and in business. He was a very humble person, and always taught us kids to be humble. That is the one quality that I have learned to appreciate most in people, and something very rare these days. It has absolutely nothing to do with money, material wealth, or the nature of the goods with which you are dealing. When I am fortunate enough to find people like this, they receive my utmost loyalty. Need I say more.
Looks like I will be ready to get a watch next week. I'm going back to T & G on Saturday, and will probably get them to hold that one for me. Only people like yourself on this forum can imagine my level of excitement and anticipation! :lingsrock:
Now I have to figure out what to do with my Steelfish and Blacksteel, as I just know the Seawolf will be my daily watch.
I am going to order a PRO II bracelet for it, and I will put the Ocean Racer that I have for my Steelfish on it in the meantime! It will be the first new model Seawolf that I have seen with an Ocean Racer. The one at T & G has a Diver Pro on it, but I was told that they could credit me that amount and put whatever strap or bracelet on it that I please.
Here I go rambling on again. Thanks all for listening.
Cheers,
Carl

I completely understand your excitment Carl and your right, part of that has to do with who you are dealing with, it all adds to the experience of it being special I think!
It sounds like your Dad is a great roll model and set good values for life, I love it when I hear of parents like that!

As to the decsion what to do with the other two watches, hmm, I guess you could sell them both and get the blackbird as well

Yes, I'm a lucky guy to have had parents like that!
As far as my decision, you are certainly full of good ideas! A year ago, I would have said: "Yes, the Blackbird!" However, I am so hooked on the Aeromarine models, that I feel these are the ones I will stay with. A matter of preference, not of cost, as we discussed. I know if I had wanted it badly enough, I would have it now. It basically boils down to the fact that I got the Blacksteel instead, that was my big expenditure last year. It was supposed to be my 60th birthday present, for this year, that is what I originally intended for the Blackbird. Now that I'm getting the Seawolf, I am actually buying myself an extra gift! Well, if I don't do it, nobody else will!

Thanks so much for all your comments and interest.

Cheers,
Carl

In that case Carl I would say keep the blacksteel as it is a contrast to the one you are getting, I think I will try to pop by T&G tomorrow to take a look at the one you are getting (Don't worry, the cockpit has spoiled me for any other watch so my attention has now diverted to increasing my fountain pen collection!!)
I can't wait to hear about your experience of picking it up and off course the pictures!
Wear it in great good health!

Thanks Ian,
I'm going to see about printing out that manual for the camera, and see if I can get some decent photos on here!
Cheers,
Carl

Just got out the OR strap that I purchased for my Steelfish last summer. The PRO II is on it now, so the OR will be going on my new Seawolf with black dial! By that time, I should be able to get a decent pic or two posted.
Cheers,
Carl

I hope this watch works out for you Carl. You have impeccable taste. I say that only because you seen to like the exact models that I have had my eye on. I never gave the Seawolf a second look until this recent model was issued and ever since it has moved into my wish list.
By the way, great words Ian! I like your rationale.

Hey Carl, I forgot, what color is the dial on that Steelfish of yours?

Silly me, I put this post in the wrong thread, here it is in the right one!

Wow, is all I can say! ..Well, actually I can say more
I just went to Time and Gold and had a look at the watch Carl is getting, You have to see this watch in the flesh to appreciate it's attention to detail. Carl, I have not seen the grey, I am sure it is very nice, but boy oh boy, that is one of the nicest back dials I have ever seen! I love the flatness of the black, it really makes the numbers stand out, it just looks so classy! If Henry David Thoreau were alive and looking for a watch I think this would be the one he would get! Rugged simplicity and purposefull.
I love the shiny accents around the 12/6/9 markers and date window and love the font they have used to the automatic script. This watch just oozess purposfull class IMHO. I think you will find yourself wearing this one all the time Carl!
One last point I just thought of, I think that watch would look stunning on a simple breitling calf strap, either black or tan, I think black more so though!

The one I'm looking at has a black dial. I am gonna spring for it next week, although I was kind of waiting to see if they get a grey dial in. However, I think my colour is black, although if I was able to get two, I would get the yellow dial as well.
In a way, I am glad that I didn't sell my Blacksteel, at least for now. When I get the Seawolf, I will have a great little collection, 3 of my favourites. I never thought I would be a collector, just a one watch kinda guy, but now I am starting to wonder.

Cheers,
Carl

Hey, I'm honoured you would even think to go and look at the watch I am getting! I do like your idea of a black calf strap, I will try the "fitting" guide on the Japanese website, and see how it looks. For now, I will get them to put on the Ocean Racer strap that I purchased last summer for my Steelfish. I saw a black dial Seawolf at La Swiss, with the PRO II. but the silver bracelet does not really bring out the black in the dial as well as the black. We shall see. You could not have described my thoughts about the Seawolf any better than the above.
By the way, thanks for the tip about downloading the PDF file from the Olympus website. I loaded it on my USB stick, and printed it out at work today. I'm gonna start playing with the camera tonight.

Anyway, it's great chatting with you, especially better that we have the same AD. Thanks for all your inspiration, suggestions and enthusiasm.

cheers,
Carl
