I have been wearing my Bell & Ross Phantom quite a bit (on the weekends) and tonight I took my bride out to a movie and I noticed that it had stopped running. I gave it quite a few winds and set the time and it started right back up but upon checking later it only ran for a few more minutes. This stinks  When I turn the crown close to my ear it almost sounds like a clutch is clicking but the second hand stays still, when I "swish" the watch around the second hand will run for a bit and stop. Does anyone know if Bell & Ross watches have a clutch on the mainspring? I would think that all modern autos have a clutch.

I am really bummed out right now. I do have 22 months of factory warranty left, but heres the crapy deal: I bought this from a chap in the UK (who bought it new from a AD and I have the receipt, warrantee card and boxes ect) and NOT from my AD who wanted full MSRP for the watch so she didnt get my business ($1400 US difference!) ... But they ARE the closest Bell & Ross AD (at a 2.5 hour drive) with several certified watchmakers on staff. Kinda makes it uncomfortable to take this watch in there, if you know what I mean.

I cant see any other solution that doesnt involve shipping it somewhere far away and my new toy is not working.

Scott

I would just take it to your AD. I don't buy all of my watches from mine and they are 5 minutes away...they understand that they may not get ALL of your business. Sales and service is what they want to be about, you'll be fine and so wil your watch. Maybe next time they'll get you a better deal. Who knows you may want to trade it....

The movements are ETA2894-2 based which has a slip clutch, as do all automatics that I know of.

I agree with Tunnel Ling - take the watch to your AD, they are a Bell & Ross AD with a repairer and you have a Bell & Ross under warranty. Nothing else matters.

I placed it on the winder (for the first time, btw) overnight, just to see if there was any change and there wasnt. So I will be making the trip to KC next weekend.

Thanks guys

Scott

Sorry to hear Scott, hope you get it sorted fairly quick. I wouldn't hesitate to get it to your AD. Sure, you asked for the watch there, but as said they can't (and won't) assume they'll get all your business. As a matter of fact, it might work out for you better this way. If they remember that you asked for it and the price they quoted and now they see you got it elsewhere, hopefully they'll give you a better price next time?

Since the night on the winder proved to be pointless, :( I am going to take a 2.5 hour trip to KC next Saturday. Hopefully they can fix it while I wait, but I would guess not and I will assume they will have to ship it to me after the repair. Either way at least I can shop and maybe find something else I cant live without. :) Only problem is, that the watch fund is severly low after the Phantom purchase, so I probally wont be adding to the collection.......yet.

It would be nice if this "wakes" them a little. After seeing all the goodies that some of you get from you AD and since I havent even gotten a call regarding the SA BS (she was to call me when it arrived), maybe she will tend to getting my business a little more. Although I am no longer interested in the SA BS, she doesnt know that. You would think that a customer who spent almost $11,000 in their store last year would get a little better perks...(freebies from Breitling and discounts on the new LE's), but maybe Im small potatoes compared to their regular customers. I dunno. I will be examining her cooperativeness next Sat and see if I need to go south to Oklahoma City for a new AD in 2009.

Scott

Good luck mate, to save face, you could say you were over here in the UK and bought it here yourself?
