I have a new 2009 Superocean Steelfish and really love the simplicity of the watch with no complications. I would love to get the black croco strap for it, but I'm unsure if it will fit my Steelfish. I checked the Breitling site for straps and the croco is not on the list for this model. Does anyone know if I can put the croco strap on my Steelfish?
Thanks

Sure. Get the 22/20 size (22mm at the lugs, 20mm at the buckle).

You can actually put any strap or bracelet on there that fits. Just check with your AD. The examples on the website are just a guide anyway. Actually, the croco would probably look great on the Steelfish. It is a watch that I wear all day, every day, it can look casual or dressy, depending upon what you are wearing. No reason you could not dress it up with a croco strap. With the bit of a sheen on the strap, it would probably look great with the dial. If you go ahead with it, please show us a pic.
Cheers,
Carl

Actually, I almost forgot: the Japanese Breitling website has all the straps on it, under the "Fitting" heading. I just went in there, and clicked on that, then select Aeromarine, then Steelfish, and there it was. I selected the croco option (although it doesn't say, you can tell by the small swatches). It looks real good. Give it a try, and let meknow how you make out! Here's the link:

Hey Steelfish!
I just went back on the Japanese website, and started to try all the options. I already got an Ocean Racer for mine, and that looks great, too. But the croco really looks better than I thought, especially with the white stitching. The black croco really brings out the black in the dial too. Good choice!
Cheers,
Carl

Thanks Carlhaluss,

The Japanese Breitling site is much better than the .com site when it comes to mixing and matching straps. I do agree the black croco looks very sharp. Is there a special tool I need to chage the straps and avoid any damage to the watch. I would like to have the option of changing straps myself when I feel like a change.
On another note, my Father who has been a die hard Rolex man since the 50's really likes my steelfish. He has always owned Rolex for it's simplicity as he does not like the busy chrono style dials on most Breitlings. He thinks, like me, that chronos have a tendency to have problems. The fewer bells and whistles means there is less to fail on the watch. This was important to him in his early career as a navy pilot and in his current profession as a surgeon. He still thinks Rolex is superior, but he says my steelfish is a Breitling he would wear. Who knew!

If you're going to spend the money on a croc strap, I would recommend buying the deployment clasp instead of the tang buckle. The is quite a difference in price though.

Yes, quite a bit of difference. :?

Croc with Tang is $480 with Deployment its $720 for a difference of $240.

$240 for a steel deployment buckle isn't great but if you tried to buy the same thing in 18KT it would be 2800, white gold it's $3350, in a 20mm it's 3800 for the white gold... sheeesh!

Nice one Mah. I had that coming. If COSTCO had one I would consider buying it there if the price was right. I don't see them selling just straps though. I'm travelling to Grand Cayman in a few months for a dive trip and I'll check with the AD there for fun. My AD in Montreal is a great guy too so I will likely give him my business.

I truly did not mean any harm, I am happy that you have joined the fourm, we can use all the Breitling lovers we can get. I actually kind of got abused a little on a price from my Ad recently. There shop book recomended price was a bit higher in there book than it was in my Chronolog price list. The price that was discounted for the watch I purchased. Since I have purchased a few from them I expect a reasonable discount. I went to see the manager today and they are going to make it right. I look forward to pictures of your trip, maybe a few underwater with the steelfish. I have the Xl Steelfish blue dial on steel. Yours?

If you are going to buy from La Swiss then this might help.....

The last croc / deployant combo that I bought from La Swiss I paid $450 including GST. Granted I was buying my Complications 19 at the same time, and obviously I spend a fair amount (!), but something to aim for

Thanks for the tip on a starting price for a croco strap Roffensian. And my steelfish is a black dial. Super sharp. I like the blue also. Lets face it they're all beautiful. I'll see what I can do about the pics.

I have a Black Croco w/ deployment (22 20) and when I strap it to any of my Breitlings, it instantly changes that particular watch to nice dress watch (even my daily worn Steelfish black dial with all the little dings and scuffs). The Croco strap quality is top notch and the deployment clasp is a must. Make sure you snag a Bergeon 6767-F spring bar tool so you can go back and forth at will. I bought a cheap tool and I have broke all of the tips already.

Scott

Thanks for the tip Scott. I have been enjoying the good natured debate about the COSTCO issue. Always good to speak your mind. I agree the croco changes the watch entirely. Nice to have options.

I visited the Grand Cayman this last September. There are a couple Breitling Dealers in the George Town area as well as many other duty free shops, Kirk Freeport is the name of the store I believe. They had a decent selection of Breitling's but they did not have that many straps to choose from. You might want to call before hand to see if they have what you are interested in or can get it. If you want to shop for watches or open a bank account, George Town is where it's at. There are banks and Jewelry stores all over. Have fun diving down there, the water in beautiful. Don't forget to stop by and see Big Black Dick when you are in George Town too!
