Glad you have those over there too! If you ever see a press conference with Randy Moss of the NE Patriots, he has a Bentley ( I could not tell model -- but it bore little resemblance to its original state anyway) with more f'ing diamonds on than the Crown jewels! In a quick look he may have added an extra wide bezel to it, looks like there is another row of bling around it!
Here we go again:Image

I think it's pretty much all been said, but I have to speak up a little for the Cockpit. An extremely underappreciated watch in my opinion and one that I often reach for. It looks great with a suit and with jeans and would be an ideal 'only' watch IMHO.

I am a bit old-fashioned on this one.

If I have a choice between a chrono or a non-chrono as a dress watch, I would choose the one without a chrono.

Also gives me an excuse to buy more watches..

You can't go wrong with a Chronomat. It can handle any situation,
dress, casual, sporting, whatever. I had one for a couple years, just
like the one your thinking about, and it was a constant pleasure. Sadly,
I sold it to finance a Skyland (I don't really regret the decision) which also
is a joy to wear. Of the two pieces you're thinking about, the Chronomat
has my vote thumbs up. :)

Not me this time D8! That was a lost cause, lesson learned!
I hope many of the comments I and others have made are interpretted as besmirching the cockpit  ! I was only answering the poll question. I think the cockpit is a beautiful watch, I just prefer the mechanical complexity of a chronograph 8) .

Well, I would plump for the sliver dial cockpit, but then I have one!
It is a very elegant watch to wear, to me it has the feeling of a fine peice of Georgian silver!
Here are a few pictures of mine!
The dial on this one looks silver in some light and a creamy translucent white in other light, I love it and do not wear any of my other watches anymore!

I would never imagine a Chronomat as trashy and it sure works with a suit or formal occasions (however it might not be that much of a dress watch as others have stated).

I believe the question actually has nothing to do with the Chronomat itself - it's all about the guy wearing it. You could have the most appropriate watch in the world, but with the wrong overall appearance it will risk being trashy anyway. And the other way around - with the right posture and overall picture you can make any watch fitting the occasion.

I don't see myself as being biased toward the Cockpit even though I have the black dial model shown.I must also add that the photo doesn't begin to show how great it looks whether I'm in a suit going to a formal function or in my shorts and tshirt walking my dog.The Chronomat in gold/ss is on my list as next purchase .I think they look as good as each other and in having both you can wear what suits you on the day
