I live in a large city in Canada that does not have a Breitling AD (not sure why). My closest AD is in Montreal. In early December 2008 I had made contact with the Montreal AD (St. Catherine St. W) to inquire about a 2009 black dial Steelfish. The AD did not have one in stock at the time but offered to call me if one came in. A few weeks later I got a call from the AD in Montreal on the morning of December 29 telling me he had the model I wanted and surpirsed me with the news he could give me 40% off retail. I was skeptical, but decided to go with my gut. I jumped in my car and drove the 2 hours to the AD. When I got there he told me that Breitling HQ had called off the discount. However, the AD was true to his word as a deal is a deal and he honoured the 40%. Needless to say I am impressed with this. He was very professional. Retail price was just under $3000.00 CAD. I got my 2009 black dial Steelfish for $1855.00 CAD taxes in. That's $1514.00 USD! It ranks as one of the top best deals I have ever received on any purchase period. I will refer anyone who asks where to buy a Breitling to the AD in Montreal. It's nice to see that customer service and professionalism still matter to some retailers.

If the current trend of "shooting off" discounting AD´s he wont be around for long

The AD will be fine. He made the verbal agreement with me on the price prior to Breitling pulling the plug on the 40% deal. He did nothing he wasn't authorised to do. If he did I certainly wouldn't post it on the web and cause him grief.

Steelfish is a great watch! You got a great discount, too. That is likely the best value you will ever get for a watch like that. I got my Steelfish earlier this year, and paid more even before the price went up in May. However, my AD still gave me a great discount, and I get wonderful service there, and I have absolutely no regrets. That was great on the part of the AD to honour the discount even though HQ rescinded it.
I am sure you will wear the Steelfish with pride and joy.
