I mean, this one is really grim -

this is not an aftermarket customization. It's a limited edition (Breitling only made 15 in white gold) created by Breitling, made by Breitling, and fully certified by Breitling. You're welcome to contact Breitling to verify the existence of these limited edition "top Wessleton" diamond adorned Bentleys. They made 15 in White Gold, and I believe 10 in Yellow Gold. I've also seen one of the Yellow Gold versions, retail was $80K, at a Breitling dealer. Don't feel bad for not being familiar with it - with only 25 total in existence, most people will never see one in person, much less own one. Look at it this way - there are 10x as many Ferrari Enzos in existence as their are Top Wessleton Bentley Breitlings, so they're quite rare.

Perhaps true, but if Enzo Ferrari took a huge crap on the hood and called it a unique edition, no one would pay extra for it. Even if it had 5 carats of diamonds in it!

It is ugly but it is Breitling work.

I am shocked that Breitling would do this to a watch.

The Diamondworks pieces are a specialist market, and to those of us that consider ourselves to be watch connoisseurs it may make no sense, but it does for Breitling.

Whether it be the music industry or professional sports (and by extension people with money that want to be part of that social group), there are people who are in the market for these watches. For Breitling they either cater to that need or they don't get the business and they don't see their watches on the wrists of famous people (who often get identified on forums like this).
