hey guys, lets say i wanted a diamond bezel on a super avenger. how hard is it to change out? can the jeweler do it? can i do it? does it have to go back to breitling?

Super easy once you have the correct screwdriver. One quick tip is to avoid removing the screw all the way

I've changed 2 of them. The only thing you have to remember is to put in the little wire that circles the inside of the bezel. Some Diamond bezels come with the wire in them and some don't. If you get one that doesn't come with the wire you have to take the wire out of the original bezel and put it in the new bezel. If that is the case when you take off the stock bezel screw one of the screws back in almost all the way which will make it stick out a bit and then you can put your screwdriver inside where it sticks out and just pop it right out of there. Then just put it in the new bezel and if you have positioned correctly when you put the new bezel on it will CLICK into place when you push down on it.

Definitely. Those tiny screws re a pain in the ass to put back in if you take them all the way out..

The bezel screws are very tight sometimes (B uses some type of loc-tite stuff), so to avoid stripping them you should tighten them first and then unscrew them. The just come out easier that way. My AD told me the screws are something like $8 each, so messing them up can start to get expensive.

I can imagine they're expensive - that small, someone probably have had to install a micro-CNC...

Im not sure how accurate that info is, but I can imagine its certainly possible.

I can well imagine that. I think BB was charges something like £30 each for titanium screws for a Aerospace or something. He's posted something on that on here before. That's a lotta cash......

I think some of the sales staff in AD's get a little blazé about costs when they work with big buck transactions on a daily basis. I bet if you asked them to pay £8 for a 1.4mm screw, they might have a change of heart about what's expensive!

I can promise you D8 is right. You do not see sales people from the ADs driving Porsches, Cadillacs and BMWs. You may see them wearing Omegas and Cartiers, but that has more to do with shop advertising and a nice employee discount. Most would not have the disposable income to buy 2-3 luxury watches a year (as many forum members do yearly) but at work they continually deal with people who do and therefore lose a sense of value in that limited enviornment. $8 for a screw may seem OK at work, but I promise you they were complaining voraciously about $4 a gallon gas!
