Well, greeted this morning with a watch that absolutely refuses to run. Doesn't matter how much "charge" I give it--dead as a doornail.

This is mildly frustrating, given that three short years ago, this same unit was in CT for a bad seal (after owning it for only three years). Not in the mood for another $500 ding for a watch that is marketed to be more durable than a Timex. And frankly, for a desk jockey like me, durability isn't really an issue anyway.

I know this happens; just wanted to rant a little to people that get it.

Sorry to hear that. Which model failed to run?

Crosswind TT from 2001. Attempted to put it on this morning, and noted it stopped at about 7:20am (this is my daily wearer). So, gave it a few swishes, and it would run for a few seconds and stop dead. No amount of encouragement would change its mind

I think it's an issue, because it really shouldn't EVER stop, given the fact that it never goes more than 12 hours max before I put it on again.

So, back to Breitling for another overhaul. Twice in seven years is a bit much IMO.

Do you maybe consider to check it with some good watchmaker to see what's wrong and than send it to Breitling if it's too big issue?

That sucks, but I do have to say, that after 7 years (or 8?) that a daily wearer with a automatic movement really should be serviced (actually serviced at like 5 years at the most at least that's what i do), so I'm not really that suprised that it has stopped retaining a charge...

If a watch is your daily wear should you wait 5 years, if not what is a reasonable time to send it in?

I won't do that. Too concerned that some clowneypants jeweler won't properly pressurize the case.



Maybe I wasn't clear. This is the second time in seven years it's gone in. Last, it went in in mid-2005 for a bad seal. At that time, a full overhaul was performed. Now, if it's normal that charges won't be retained after three years, perhaps I need to reassess either my frustration, or whether I should continue milking this cripple. Haven't decided that yet.

I did call BUSA today, and she said that it's recommended that units go back in every two years for general service ($100-$150). Has that been echoed with any users here?
