Hi Folks,
I recently won an auction for a Colt Auto II. The seller states that he won the watch at an airshow in 1999 and has never had it out of the box. Pics indicate numerous Breitling-like paperwork as well as a bakelite box. I should have asked these questions before bidding ! Duh !
Is the fact that it has been sitting around for 9 years affect the performance of the watch and should I take it in for service as soon as I receive it? As always thank you for your counsel. Regards, Bryan

The fact that it hasn't been used is not a problem per se, but it definitely needs an immediate service.

Over the 9 years the oils will have broken down and there is the potential for damage to the watch through excessive wear if it is used without servicing.
