Hello All,
What are the rules for wearing a navitimer and a suit?

When I was on the turfers forum (for rolex) there was alot of debate about if it was acceptable to wear a submariner with a suit..... the decision being that a white dial explorer II or daytona is ok..... but not a black dial watch.....

What are the general rules for wearing a navitimer.....

I went to Noosa this weekend... wearing my TT Diamond Datejust and Liverpool top..... looked like a football holigan.... and that is how the shop keepers treated me..... like a football holigan....

Who a Navitimer been a better choice?

PS - I did not wear the navi as I also went for a dip in the ocean! so the only watch i could wear was my TT Datejust!

People who make up rules about what we can and can't do should stick to politics.

The rest of us wear what we want when we want with whatever we want.

Your comment on being treated like a football hooligan does not surprise me tho' as the person you're dealing with (shopkeeper or whatever) will only see the big picture. If they were astute enough to notice the expensive watch on your arm they will assume it's either a fake or stolen!

So - wear what you want. Anyone who tells you what to wear, how and when is just trying to impose their will on you. Enjoy your watches how and when you like.

Freedom...................

Rant over :)

:yeahthat

I don't pick a specific watch for specific attire, I just wear what I want when I want.

The only problem is that for me at this time of year, long sleeves hide what watch I'm wearing anyway, roll on summer!!

I agree. I wear what I want when I want, rules be damned. I find this debate tiresome, and have seen it on other forums, both watch and clothing.
In terms of shirts, I find French Cuffs work better the larger the watch.

Rules for what you are wearing? Huh? Seriously? I will wear my Herc with anything. I've worn it with shorts at the beach and with a tux.

I'll jump on the "what you want when you want to wear it" bandwagon! God knows you pay enough for these things, whatever makes YOU happy. Having said that, general convention is to avoid sport watches while in a suit. Thinking about it now though James Bond rolls with what I would consider a sport watch, so again we're back to what you want and damn the rest!

Agreeing with all those replies. It's my watch and my body, I'll wear what I want. In many cases, style is a matter of being comfortable in what you have on and the confidence that shows.

Absolutely no "rules".
I wear my Steelfish on each and every occasion. Just as my SuperOcean, which I had for over 10 years. That includes working out at the gym, and at my job. Whether I am at the gym, or at a fine dining restaurant, I always feel comfortable wearing my Steelfish.
Cheers,
Carl

I agree with the general theme -- wear what you want, when
you want, with whatever you want! Anybody who pays 3,4,5
grand and more for a timepiece has earned the right to wear
his timepiece on any occassion. As to what a shopkeeper thinks--
gimme a break -- have you ever seen a shopkeeper with a Breitling
or Rolex on their wrist? Not likely.

One more point about what's proper or improper. Our favorite
fictional hero -- Bond, James Bond -- wears his battered Rolex or
Omega to the ritziest of places, and the chap does manage to pull
it off, doesn't he? :) Enough said!

Steve

I personally think archie42 is a prime example for a spammer and is trying to get reactions from members, which is exactly what is happening.
Read the first post in this section.- (Roff's )
And also, this is not a football (all crap). string, its all about watches.

Hi, Alan. More of a troll I think than spammer. Just my humble opinion, of course....
Cheers,

Archie42 is a new member who has certainly made himself known already.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and give him a chance to become a valued contributor to the forums.

But, please archie42, be yourself. We don't mind what watches you own, or which watches are your favourite - just be honest with us. Here's what I mean:

Multiple luxury watches - with my Breitling Navitimer as my favorite.
Breitling Navitimer (old navi II), Rolex DateJust TT 16233, Omega Speedmaster Pro - Man on the moon watch.
Great group of friends on this forum
Small inheritence coming to me next year - I'll reduce some credit card debt but also get a small gift for myself.... either 1 of the following Patek Calatrava, Rolex President or TT Rolex Sub, JLC Reverso ?

I am just a middle class guy on a middle class income and I think it can't get any better!

And from a well known Rolex forum:

Oh dear!

That's the end of that then - I for one won't bother reading any more of these posts then.
