hi all
just joined up,bit of a long story so bear with me ! :)
as ive been offered a B13050.1 which is white faced gold numerals and has 4 gold lugs around the edge and the 3 buttons are also gold and has a brown, looks geniune leather strap

buying from someone i know who bought this along with another one and a rolex a few years ago from a watch auction but has only the receipt ,no box or paperwork

Im allowed to take it for a repair/service as the seconds hand has come off and is inside the face, the jeweller is a good one who ive used for a while now and he will knock off the cost of the repair of the total watch price

Ive got to pay £800 for it in total, and as i know him i can pay this after its fixed

just looked it up and found its a 1993-1999 model i think
looks good conditon couple of the 15min marker gold lugs have a scuff on

just wondering if this was a good deal and price?

thanks for any advice

matt

Hi and welcome aboard.

The B13050 is a two tone Chronomat, and if it has numerals instead of batons it is most likely the Vitesse model that was made between 1997 and 2000ish - so you are in the right region age-wise.

Is the £800 price the amount irrespective of the cost of repairs (which the guy will pay) or the amount that he will then reduce by whatever the repair costs? If it's the latter I'd say it's probably an OK deal. If it's the former.......... well I'd like to see pictures before giving an opinion, but personally I wouldn't pay £800 for it if it has cosmetic damage (the rider tabs), internal damage (the chronograph hand), and no papers. To give you an idea there is a totally mint condition one on eBay at the moment, with all papers and boxes, etc, for £1300........., and they are open to offers.

A lot also depends on whether you'd want to put it back to near-as-new condition. If you do, it'll cost you a bit more in terms of a service at Breitling and any parts needs - such as a new rider tabs if they are scuffed. But again, if you are happy to use non-Breilting jewellers (which you seem to be) then provided they can get the parts, you may be able to do it cheaper.

Post us some pics if you can and we can give a better appraisal, but on the face of it, I personally wouldn't pay £800 for it in the condition you describe.

:welcome: Matt

I'm in full agreement with D8. I think it's an OK rather than good deal. In mint condition with all paperwork, I'd say around £1200 would be market value for a B13050.

Now if the seller would pay for a service at Breitling, then that would be a good deal!

HI
Thanks for the quick replies,it was running and keeping good time over 3 day period
the seconds hand came off recently not sure why,he suspects one of his kids might have dropped it in the box but no ne owned up lol
still runs though

the price of £800 will be after its repaired and serviced, the jeweller did my wifes sisters rolex after it stopped and its been perfect since,so although not a breitling dealer hes good :) and only charged trade rates , friend of a friend ;)

not sure if the 2 lugs can be polished out as the marks are fairly deep
the rest of the watch is really clean not much use unless its been refurbed already.the leather strap is new and the crystal is unmarked and the rest of the bezel is nice too

so in short it will be £800, 1yrs warranty on the repair, serviced(not main dealer though) no book or box
but poss probably a couple of marks on 2 lugs

thanks
matt

I still think it's an OK deal at best, but if it was dropped hard enough for a hand to come off ( ), I'd probably walk away on the strength of that alone.............. but then that's me and I'm something of a perfectionist!

Without seeing pics it's hard to visualise the condition, but I'd be more inclined to say it's a £600 piece instead of an £800 piece.

PS - Just on a terminology point - the gold parts round the bezel are the rider tabs not lugs. The lugs are the parts of the case that the bracelet or strap attaches to.

i know what you mean about the damage im a bit of a perfectionist too
but im not 100% it has been dropped, the scuffs were already there b4
althought the sweep hand was ok last time i saw it,and its not been worn so i cant see why the hand would have come off

ive also been offered a A13048 also from a shop, working with warranty for £800 as well, its just stainless with a blue face
the normal shop price is apparently £1200 but been offered this at a supposed trade price as my cousin is a jewellry dealer who sells stock to them

hence the questions as im undecided what one to go for out of the two
but maybe neither are that cheap then?
ive not seen any for sale though for £600 unless anyone has one for sale :)
