Hi everyone - BreitlingSource newb here (I frequent TZ and WUS). Thought I'd post a question:

I've got my first Breitling (2006 Steelfish X-Plus) incoming with a Pro I bracelet. I was interested in getting a used Pro II bracelet from a newest model Steelfish to put on it. Have a few questions though:

(1) Will the Pro II bracelet from the newest Steelfish fit on the X-Plus? Do they have the same finish?

(2) Is the Pro II bracelet worth the upgrade vs. the Pro I?

Thanks!

Welcome aboard. The current Steelfish is exactly the same as the Steelfish X-Plus. The X-Plus name came about when they increased the size of the Steelfish from 42mm to 44mm. The X-Plus just distinguished it from the 42mm version. The following year when the 42mm Steelfish was discontinued, they just dropped the X-Plus part as the 44mm became the only Steelfish.

So, yes the Pro II from the latest Steelfish will fit your X-Plus.

On the second question, IMO the Pro II is a lot better than the Pro I. There is far less lateral play in the Pro II and I much prefer the way it is 'slash cut' in teh same way as the rest of the Breitling range. It also sits flatter on the wrist as the centre link is the same height at the outer links as opposed to the Pro I.

Thanks a lot! I think I'm going to try out the Pro I and jump on the Pro II if I feel a need for more stability.

I agree with everything Driver8 says. In addition, I wore a SuperOcean with a PRO I strap for 10 years. It was very comfortable, but now that I have had my Steelfish for about 8 months, I am finding it a lot more comfortable. I actually found that the PRO I marked up my wrist a lot more at the end of the day, after I took the watch off. Nothing against the PRO I mind you, after all mine lasted for 10 years and I wore that watch every single day. The PRO II, however, really is not only new but improved also, and very comfortable. I have even heard the comment on one of these forums where someone said that the PRO II was more comfortable than the Pilot bracelet. I can't vouch for that, as I never wore a watch with a Pilot bracelet, but it does say a lot for the PRO II which is less than half the price, and the looks suit the Steelfish very well.
Cheers,
Carl
