I went to a local AD this past weekend to look for my next potential Breitling. Really like the SuperOcean but I am not a huge fan of their current model. The AD showed me a new model on his Breitling iPad, of which I cannot find on Breitling's website, called the SuperOcean Special Steel. This particular Model is very similar to the current SuperOcean, but it is available with a S.S. case and either a blue or black ceramic bezel, with the same design as the blacksteel model. Has anyone else seen this particular SuperOcean model or heard any rumors of it?

No sir. This was a new version of your exact watch but with a solid blue ceramic bezel and I think a slightly different dial. From what I remember, the overall design was just like the blacksteel model. My plan was to go home a research it a little more, but unfortunately, that watch cannot be found on Breitling Website.

That one is my good ladies 36mm Super Ocean we purchased last Saturday.

It is SS with a blue ceramic bezel.

I reset the date when we got home

I may be wrong, but the model you have pictured does not have a ceramic bezel but rather a stainless steel bezel with a rubberized coating of sorts.

The AD said it's ceramic, but the Breitling site says otherwise.

Not impressed with the AD describing it as such.

It's a steel bezel with rubber insert.

I was able to stop by a different AD this weekend and to my surprise, they had the new SuperOcean 44 Special in stock. As I mentioned above, this watch has a steel case with either a black or blue ceramic bezel. The design and layout of the watch is exactly like the BlackSteel version on Breitling's website. The way I spec'd it, blue rubber strap and folding clasp, the price was $200 more than the steel/rubber version, so very much worth the small premium in my opinion. Prior to ordering said watch, I was shown an excellent condition Pre-Owned Navitimer World, which has always been on my list to own and I ended up adding that watch to the collection.

Would have been interested to see a pic. Superocean Steel Special always looked like a great diver, but I'm personally not a fan of the whole DLC black steel.

There used to be a widespread rumour that some Superocean models were made using the 904L steel (used by Rolex) instead of the generally used 316L bus according to my knowledge never proved. Maybe this is the info you are looking for?

Like I said earlier, I was able to try one on, but unfortunately it was at a different store and I forgot to take a picture of it. So this picture of the Breitling iPad is the best I have.

I really liked the watch but I ended up getting a Navitimer World.

I really like the dial on that Superocean, but I would get rid of the 24 hour numbers to clean it up some and feel less cluttered.
