Hello Breitling enthusiasts,

I have a Breitling Navitimer 806, with a Venus 178 movement with a WOG stamp, and serial 825075. Please see the two attached images, front and back. It seems to have 92 bezels.

The serial seems to be 1954, the bezel would be 1959. I know that the dial and the hands are Breitling, but do not seem to correspond to any of the years.

Can anybody share some of the history of this watch? And what would you do, hunt for the original dial and hands or leave as it is? If so, where?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, the dial is from the mid to late 1960's and the hands look replaced. For that early a serial would expect BOW, not WOG on movement. Serial that early on a navi should be a valjoux 72. You got a franken, but the bezel is very nice.

Hello dgercp,

thanks for your insight. In recap:

dial and hands: mid / late 60s
bezel: 1959 (?)
serial: 1954 (?)
movement (Venus 178): as early as of 1955 in Navitimers (unofficialbreitlingfaq)

Considering the serial numbers issue at Breitling, couldn't be bezel, serial and movement be of the same watch?

yes, Venus 178 was used in 1955 - but these had the "BOW" import code well into 1956, only then replaced by "WOG".

it could theoretically be another misstamped case and be a 1960 production piece, which would be in line w/ bezel and import code; would be the first "1954" example I remember.

dial, sliderule and hands are late 1960s

So, the 1953 (according to the chart) serial number is another misstamp?

That's what I meant, another 53-60 misstamp not a different misstamp. Has anyone pinned down the serial number ranges on these?

Same old misstamp, 53 (825) and 60 (925).

1960 case, bezel and movement.

Service hands, dial, and slide rule

So no Franken, I understand when it comes to case, bezel and movement, all 1960. Dial, slide and hands later 60s. Is that a correct resumée?

Greatly appreciated!!!

oh its franken

case is from 1960 , should have an all black dial
dial is from post 1966 (67/68/69?)
movement looks like a 1960 movement to me

so someone put an incorrect late 60ies dial, with incorrect hands and sliderule in an 1960 case with 1960 movement
