Hello

I got this watch from my dad. Can someone tell me more about it. I think it's from the mid 60's. Is it a ref 4005? I can't find this anywere on the internet...

It's a manual watch and I'm having trouble setting the date. When I pull the crown it's like there's only one click and at this position I set the time. Is the watch broken, or do I have to set the date by setting the time, ie turn the crown several days forward. If that's makes sense?

Does anyone know how to open the watch? I can't find any notches on the back case.

On the back it says "Breitling - 4005 - Waterproof"

Looks fine. probably from the late 1950's to early 1960's. That's a top loader case where the crystal has to come off to get the movement out. Probably a Felsa movement that doesn't have quick set date so you have to set it the old fashioned way by either rotating the hands until the date is correct or, like I usually do, leave it alone until the date catches up to the watch. Lazy, I know, but it wears my finger tips out.

Thanks! I'll start my finger training :-)

Do you just "pop" the crystal the same way you remove the back case on a "normal" watch?
