First off, you guys are horrible wonderful enablers! Just bought another vintage watch, but my first Breitling

Early 1960s Breitling Chronomat. Stainless steel with the 175 Venus caliber movement.

I really appreciate you all giving me the thumb's up on this watch. And the wonderful information about this beautiful little piece of historic machinery.

The condition is immaculate. The slide rule mechanism and all the Chrono functions are excellent. The winding mechanism appears strong, now just checking power reserve. It really is a beautiful piece.

I was not a fan of the tan band and will likely replace it with a vintage Milanese metal mesh band by Breitling. They look really cool, and will give this watch a bit more heft. It's a decent size for a vintage piece at 37mm, but a metal band may give it more weight.

Here is a professional picture from the retailer - looks better live, frankly:

Now the Navitimers have caught my eye . . . .

Replaced the tan leather band with a heavy gauge stainless steel mesh. The Chronomats from the 1960s were sold with mesh as well. I went from really liking this watch to now loving this watch. I like the additional heft that it adds as well.

Cool story, chilling with my folks in Vero Beach. Pops, an aerospace engineer, loves the watch with its slide rule dial. So after dinner, and some really cool bottles of vino, he breaks out his box from college with all his engineering stuff, slider rulers, compass sets, etc. And then with his buzz on, tries to explain how it works.

So let me geek out a bit here:

This morning over breakfast, my dad says to my mom, "I'd like a new chronograph for our anniversary". My mom and I did a little shopping today.
