I'll post my pics soon in the "identify a replica or genuine" forum soon, but first a few questions about my new to me 2007 vntage Superocean Steelfish. It seems to pass all the "is it real or fake" picture tests but I'm still a couple percent doubtful.
Here is my top concern. I removed the bracelet to have it resized. Then I thought OH! Weigh it while it's strapless. It weighed 127.4 grams on both my and the jeweler's scales. Breitlingsource says it should be 122g. The bracelet looks correct (no wings logo in the clasp showing through) and is stamped 134A at both ends, and also has "S 0407' stamped into the metal in one link on either end of the bracelet. Not having handled other Breitlings before I don't know if the BREITING, MODELE DEPOSE and MANUFACTURE EN SUISSE engraving is the proper depth but it definitely "clicks" as you run your fingernail over it.
I thought the case was not engraved, but after rubbing off some dirt (see below) a bit the 6H side has "5006 B5" stamped very small.
Another thing I am not sure of, the 11 in the date window has little angles on top of both 1's. Same with 1. But 12, 13, 14, 15 etc is just a straight line for the 1. The 4 has a very wide top, it does not come to a point. The 7's look consistent between 7, 17, and 27.
Also, can I remove the oxidation at the edges of the proII stainless (134A) bracelet links with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a Qtip? I don't mind my own dirt and discarded skin cells but someone else's......
I do have box and complete papers indicating it was originally sold in Italy. But the seller who considers himself the original owner says he got it on an authentic watch reseller online.
It lost about 18-20 seconds the first day that I wore it (12 hours on 12 hours off my wrist) so maybe that is okay for an unserviced 8 year old timepiece.
Thanks!
