She's a beauty. I had Seller's remorse when I sold mine years ago!

Regarding the brushed chimneys mentioned earlier, I have seen Crosswind Racings with both polished and brushed Chimneys.. so I'm not sure if they were brushed after or before. I remember noticing them when I bought one years ago, because I liked the look of the brushed Chimney more.

Here's another one, but it's also brushed. Now I don't know if there was a brushed Headwind, or if this is more evidence of a custom brush job. Given that the chimney is also brushed, I'm guessing maybe the latter, since Breitling typically leaves chimneys polished even on their brushed watches. Hopefully someone who knows more than I will chime in.

You could get the Headwind either polished or brushed finish. Every brushed Breitling I've had has never had a polished chimney.

That hasn't been my experience. The 2007 Blackbird, Chronomat 01 LE, and Flying Fish were brushed, and all had polished chimneys. Come to think of it, the same goes for both of my Aerospaces. But I guess that's beside the point. If you had models with stock brushed chimneys, then it obviously was a possibility, and not a given that a brushed chimney indicates a custom brush job.

Why are you thinking you should keep the original finish? If you like a brushed finish, why not get it brushed?

It was, in 2002, just SS model with black, blue and white dial.

Good to know, thanks. Did it come with a faceted Pilot?

It came with 355A in 02 and 03 Handbooks, which should be faceted, but photos in the Handbooks show ordinary brushed Pilot.
Normal brushed Pilot should be 356A.

It's a great watch. I have the exact same one pictured with the brushed finish. I had the same dilemma. I didn't know whether to get the brushed or polished finish. A brushed came up for sale, so brushed it was. I think they both look great. I have been thinking about a white faced dial in the future. Someone on the forums had it with rubber and I thought it looked great. The only issue with the watch is the tight fit under the cuffs of some shirts. As you now know, it's not small. I've gotten many compliments on the watch, especially from my 20 year old son. Enjoy the watch. I think the polished finish looks great.
