and this is an earlier version in 18K , double wing
so Unless is was a special order (and I dont believe it was or B would have used an AOPA dial , I am sure they would still be available in 1965/66)

This is my main concern, or did I missed a new, badly printed AOPA logo-variant, Kurt?

To me it's all about using your common sense.

I have seen more than a handful of them over the years, all of them on gold plated black / white Navitimers & Cosmonautes, and all of them on correct dials and with patina.

We all know that compared to the stainless steel Navitimers, the gold plated ones are far from as common, so why none on a stainless steel Navitimer ?

Unfortunately I only have the below 3 pictures in my archive.

Bill is using a scanner to picture his watches, not a Camera, hence the "badly print", at least IMO.....If you ask him for a better picture, without the hands interfering, then I'm sure he'll do his best.

But this is my opinion, there's no need for you guys to agree.

You have more experience on it, Kurt. For me, the logo on Bill's pic looks blurred and not Breitling-factory-like. Every other part of the dial is sharp... But maybe the scanner-thing is also an explanation for the interupted circle above 1:50, the missing : in 1:10, 1:50, etc....

But if it's correct, we have to move this thread into the "normal" forum and I have to apologize.

We all live to learn, no apology needed, I woud most likely have believed (and posted) the same some 10 years ago...

Here's another example of those off centered AOPA wings, again on a gold plated watch.

there is no doubt these are around, Paul ;)
still extremely surprising they made it through Breitling QC of the period. all crooked and off center, similar only to some Wakmann we also find, though none in any print advertising .....

so I'll remain on the fence these dials were regular production units, even if that might remind Kurt of the times he knew so little about Breitling Navitimers.

here are some more recent Bill Shaine listings, probably just seem strange as the pictures are scans ...

"mint, unvelievable condition and all originial" AOPA Elgin ....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINT-VINTAGE-24 ... SwbdpWYORG

and an "incredible nr mint" Premier 787 ....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXTRAORDINARY-N ... Sw7FRWYNIf

I must be speaking a different language .....

and that "mint unbelivable" Elgin shows Bill and I don't only speak different languages, we also use different history books, the Elgin was "the official AOPA watch before the Breitling Navitimer" AND it's a Military watch from the Korean wars era - was the US Air Force taken over by AOPA during that period ?

all of this doesn't really make me trust that Nav more ....
