Hello fellow Breitling amigos hope all is well just want to reach out and see if I can possibly get a little bit more information on this model
A45355 Black on Pilot Bracelet
I came across it on the bay with box and paperwork ,looks to be in good condition and now I'm thinking maybe it's a little bit too traditional in style for me

I guess I'm too used to my superoceans

From my understanding it was only in production for a few years?

The more I think about it the more it seems like an Impulse buy I made :) lol
I was originally on the hunt for a nice used example of the SO A17365
Since I have 2 A17360 Oceans , on a Blue shadow numeral dial 2009 and the other 2005 SteelFish

I hope it being different will make me appreciate it more :)
I hope lol

I love the Headwind! It's a great look and a nice counterpoint to the SO's you have.

The Headwind is a much loved and highly sought model by Breitling enthusiasts. If you find you regret your purchase, you should have no trouble selling it...but you might find you regret your decision.

Have you received it yet? The Pilot is a much nicer bracelet than the Pros. You might find yourself wooed by the bracelet alone.

Me too. Polished bracelets are too bling for me personally but that Headwind dial is wonderful.

I also like the headwind. It was a touch too big for me when I tried it years ago, but a beauty nevertheless. Enjoy!

Thanks SCO
That's actually one of the primary things I'm worried about I'm used to my 42 mm so 43 and almost pushing 44 might be a little bit too big I hope not :)

According to the B-Source price list, retail in '05 was $2500 for head, $1000 for bracelet, or $3500 total. That was before some pretty sizeable price hikes in Swiss watches about five years later. In comparison, retail on the current Galactic 44 on bracelet is $6200. The Galactic has a few improvements (improved bezel action, hinged endpieces), but it does not have the silver par epargne dial, and the movement is more or less the same. Therefore, it would seem most of the increase in price is inflationary, rather than based on material improvements in the model. (Not to knock the Galactic. It is a very nice model in and of itself, and I for one love the hinged endpieces and smooth bezel action.)

Production dates for the Headwind were from 2001-2005, so I would guess it would have appeared in the Chronologs for all those years.

I don't want to oversell it before you have a chance to try it on and see how you like it. It does have a fairly sizeable case with straight lugs. Still, not to put too fine a point on it, but I would say the Headwind is one of "those" models - the ones that make real Breitling connoisseurs salivate. Breitling was smart to reintroduce it as the Galactic, but for some, the Headwind will always be the true original in that style. Hopefully you will like it once you put it on.

hi,

been looking for the right one for years...

not common, quite stylish, unusual complication (day @ 12:00), very very special - a real piece of art - dial (par épargne), limited production, etc.
extremely versatile... looks gorgeous on SS bracelet, leather (i've since then bought a blue croc... that combo will be a killer!) or possibly even a diver pro for a sporty look!

finally found the one i wanted (brushed + SS bracelet / blue dial) at the right price a few weeks ago. she is now at BUK for a full overhaul and i cannot wait to get her back!

quite a contrast with some of the other blings i've got, which is a plus.

really think it is a classic... give her a chance, i'm quite sure you'll end up loving her!

cheers,
pg
