Definitely won't be covered under the standard maintenance. I have no idea what the potential cost could be.

I really do not know how this is: why doesn't a manufacturer stand behind its product if it reaches the end user through an alternative way? I think that - at least to a certain extent - every manufacturer has responsibility what way their products travel after leaving the factory. I think that the warranty has to belong to the product and not to the seller. I have a Chronomat 41 (B01) that I have bought pre-loved 4 months after original purchase from a mate who bought the watch from an AD and thus I have/had almost the full 5 years of warranty. The watch stopped at midnight a few weeks later and the watch repair was covered by the warranty. (One of my favourite watches ever since, working prefectly since.) So if the warranty goes with the product by changing of owners than why the warranty does not go with the product by changing "owners" before selling it to the end cuustomer? After all warranty is about possible failures of manufacturing/producing the product.
I must say that my post is not against Breitling, even not against any other manufacturer, just wondering and wishing to know a bit more how this works. I usually buy either through AD or used watches with/without warranty and never had an issue because of buying from the grey market but surely would buy there if the bargain was right. So I'd be happy to see mates with the knowledge chiming in.
Best,
Robert
(PS: just wearing my Chrono Cockpit / ETA 7750 :) ) as typing this...)

I don't know about other countries but there are many 'grey' outlets in the UK where you get the full Breitling warranty, because the grey dealer has sourced the watch from an AD; indeed, many ADs rely on grey dealers in order to shift stock.

So there is, if you like 'light grey' and 'dark grey'! I know very good Breitling (and Omega) ADs in the UK (forum sponsors), so have never gone down that road myself. But I have sourced a NOS Rolex from a German 'grey' dealer and received the full factory warranty just as if I was the second owner in a private sale. Dark grey is where you have only the grey dealer's warranty, which as Roff says is worthless as they don't have access to parts.

Tom, thx for yr reply! Haven't thought about existing of "light" and "dark" grey outlets but seems to be true... in this case my original thoughts are valid for "dark grey" outlets too... sorry if this might be thin ice... anyway, my thought is that every factory must somehow stand with warranty behind its own product, regardless how it reaches the end customer... but from the legal point of view I'm not quite sure as I'm not a lawyer myself :)

Now my beautiful Chronomat 41 on my wrist as I'm typing this :)

Update: I've been monitoring this issue and the minute counter has been operating perfectly for a month. However, I just noticed that the hour counter jumps a notch every 15 minutes. I'm not sure if this is a new issue or always this way. I'm assuming this isn't normal? Do you guys think that this is part of the same initial problem with the chronograph?

When I send it in for maintenance, do I need to clarify these issues to them, or will they figure it out themselves?

They'll likely see it for themselves, but you should always tell them about any issues.
