I have used GUY#1 for most of my restorations. He is extremely honest and fair. I trust and value his expertise when he advises me to stay away from a restoration just as I value the advise from Fred, Rene, and Paul before I purchase a watch. This is a learning experience for all and we all have been burnt at one point in the past. That's what learning is all about. You learn from your mistakes and not so much from your successes! Feel lucky at this point you have not been burnt too bad. AND DON'T GIVE UP ON COLLECTING VINTAGE WATCES, IT'S A GREAT AND REWARDING HOBBY!

Thanks everyone for the valuable input. Certainly a lot to learn from all of this.

For the record, based on experience, Guy #1 has always been willing to collaborate with other watchmakers when it's the best thing for the watch. Sounds like you had a tough go around for your first try.... But actually, you got off pretty easy for your first vintage mistake. These learning experiences cost some money but hey, they are cheaper than college. Best of luck in future endeavors.
