Hello all,

I am trying to identify what kind of breitling I own. This watch was passed down from my grandfather, through my father, to me and I have no idea what kind it is. The numbers stamped on the back are 668034 (with 178 underneath). I have searched and searched through the internet and I can't find another exactly like it.

Anyone have a clue????

Thanks!

dial is not original - apparently an old refinish, rest seems ok, one of the "Pupulaires" line launched in the very late 1930s, this a ref. 178 with a Venus 170, case was manufactured in 1945

Thank you Watchfred!

Right now I wear this watch on a daily basis.......would you think that's a bad idea? Is this something I should be more careful with?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how did you determine that the dial is not original? I know it has been the same dial since the late 50s, so it must have been changed before that. Any idea what version the dial is from? I looked up the Pupulaires line and still couldnt find anything that looks similar to this one.

Any more info you have would be greatly appreciated........I've always wondered about the watch and am eager to learn all I can about it.

Thanks again and have a good one!

here is the ref. 178, same case, same year, correct dial. you will notice the different (and very wrong) Breitling logo.
you should have the watch serviced if that hasn't been done during the last 5-7 years.
