Hey guys, wondering if someone can offer advice.

After a birth year watch from 1977 and not having much luck.

Seen Fred's combo of Chrono-matics and loving the white dial ( ).

Where is the best place to be looking? eBay is lacking, chrono24 has occasional Iraqi stuff (not really interested). Ideas please.

1977 ?

that is going to be quite a challenge as according to the serial number list only some 5500 pieces were made
I dont even recall having one or ever having had one

which model in particular are you after ?

I know, needle in a haystack right? Least I wasn't born in 1979.

I'd love something like a 2110 or maybe a 1808 or 816. (i think i'm getting the numbers right). Preferably white dial and red hands.

I've a few modern Breitlings (Emergency Coral, Emergency Mission Black/Silver, Navitimer Cosmonaute), and think something like that would be great.

I just don't know where to be hunting for the vintage watches.

1977 is going to be a fun birth year watch to find. Have you had any thoughts of lying about your age, say 1967??? LOL!!!

1987 would be even better. Lose 10 years.

to make your life a bit easier or more complicated, however you interpret this:
the serial numbers on the watches are case production years, not indicating watch assembly, we see examples where watches are manufactured over a decade with the same case production batch.

chances of finding your perfect serial number with a case produced in 1977 are minimal, but that early/mid 1970s 2110 you love might well have been a late assembly piece from 1977, call it a "birth period" watch ?

Good shout Fred. I've got time though, so I'm in no rush.

The other issue is I am in a small town in Australia, so the chances of seeing one on my doorstep is close to zero.

Perth. We only have 2 shops really. One for new, or one for second hand. So not a lot of choice.

I've been into Smales a few times on work trips over there. There was a really friendly young guy in there that i got chatting with. He even brought out the sold gold Chronomat B01 from the safe and let me try it on. Man, that thing was a beast. Not even remotely my style but impressive none the less.

Australia is a bit harder for vintage Breitlings (especially with our dollar being word a teaspoon of spit at present) but if you're patient and get to know people you can find what your after. i was chasing a 1806 for about a month before one came along. That's not so bad.

Not been the Smales. May have a look.

We have "Swiss Watches" in the city, that is an AD for a few brands. And "Swiss Watch Box" down London Court which has a lot of nice second hand stuff. It's where I got my Cosmonaute.
