Hi there,

First time poster here, have been reading here and there, and been around several forums.

Came across this piece locally, and was wondering if experts can help me out.

Have some troubles uploading the pictures, so I'll provide a link to my Dropbox.

Being somewhat new to Navitimers, if any experts can let me know if the dial is authentic or redialed?

From what I see some redial has been done in the sub dials particularly, the "40" and the "3". Other than that, I think it looks good.

Seller described the movement needs serviced, and other functions is working fine.

Usually I go for mint condition, however thinking if I should make an exception for this one.

I should add that, it is priced very low, around $1500-1800.

Looking forward for you inputs.

Thanks,
Kent

Ah, the allure of finding a single owner Navitimer locally, and purchasing it in an untouched state....

Unfortunately, this is not it.

At first glance, the slide rule is a poor fake. That should set off some alarm bells...

The dial has been tampered with as you suggest, and in more places than just the subdials, I'd bet the Logo was refinished and shouldn't there be three red accents between 9 and 10 o'clock?? The hands have also been messed with

I don't want to guess what other issues it has with the case and movement...

I'd stay away.

Thanks for your input Eric!

In conclusion, I will stay away from this piece for sure.

I have been looking for a nice condition Navitimer and hope that I can learn more about it. I was wondering what made you think the slide rule was a poor fake? For my untrained eye, thought it was alright, just in a bad condition.

font and printing on the sliderule are FAR off, as Eric says.
here's a correct one for you to compare:

Here's Fred's slide rule next to yours. Apart from the font being wrong... The slide rule "artist" made a typo. Can you spot it ?

I wouldn't use this one to do any math ;-)

good spot, Eric.
though, as a Rolex, it would be offered as the "uber rare double 55 sliderule bezel" ;)

I was actually envisioning the Omega version ... a spare "Rare Vintage Navitimer D55 Sliderule Insert" listed with a Buy it Now of $1k+

Absolutely spot on! Thanks for confirming that, I thought the font was just distortion from the hesalite, now I know its definitely a redial.

Thanks for this forum! Very much appreciated.
