My wife and I have a long and happy marriage by each taking on certain roles and responsibilities. She wears the diamonds. :D

Are we to infer that wearing a wristwatch with a diamond bezel has any bearing whatsoever on each of your specific "roles and responsibilities" or is there a suggested analogy to femininity or masculinity in your assertion? Maybe it's my advanced age or maybe it's because I'm 6' 5" and 240lb. but I have a difficult time finding anything "feminine" about the watch shown below. Maybe my future bride at 5' 11" and 145lb. has a confused sense of her feminine role and responsibility because she enjoys wearing it as well. Actually, she probably is confused because she does prefer larger diameter wristwatches with or without diamonds. I should probably buy a dainty Lady Breitling for her to help resolve her identity issues...

PS. Yes, that is my 7 and 3/4" left wrist in the pics below and yes I did resize the bracelet for her wrist by removing a couple of links...

Some people should keep there comments to themselves, there's no written rule that only woman should wear diamonds, I have diamonds in all 7 of my super avengers and love everyone of them. I love wearing them everyday. I wear diamond rings, diamond bracelets. Yes there not for everyone.

I don't know what it is with diamonds and watches. Just about every other topic can be discussed and disagreed upon without issues, but for some reason both sides of this argument seem intent on personal comments and stereotypical generalisations. Let's keep the comments respectful please gentlemen.

I guess it depends. I personally dislike having diamonds on my own watches, in particular my Breitlings because they are technical looking and tool watches so having diamonds on them will change the image perception IMO. Whenever I see or handle a mechanical watch, I want to admire the technical excellence of the movement and scout for design details. How they make the dial more legible, how they improve the grip of the bezel on a sports watch, etc.

Generally when you have diamonds on a watch, most of the time the focus becomes tuned to the diamonds, and not the watch itself, until to the extend that the watch becomes admired as a jewellery and not a watch. The Rolex DJ that I bought for my wife uses diamonds as the hour markers. Well I thought that's quite fine because the watch is not a technical or sports watch. So there isn't much technical details to focus on. The diamonds are there as hour markers, not purely display. So they do serve a purpose on the watch, especially when they "bling" the markers become clear and the dial is more legible overall. Diamonds also symbolizes elegance and purity. So they become a compliment on the watch instead of a "replacement". I purposely chose a plain black dial to contrast the diamonds because if I chose some flowery or even mother-of-pearl dial the visual focus will be lost. I have to say that the diamonds does make the watch more luxurious looking overall, but in a more controlled manner.

For men I guess you can have diamonds on yr watch if you are a jeweller or love diamonds because they mean something to you. However there is one factor that I dislike most about having diamonds on watches. Most of the time, you will not even know the grade of the diamonds. The color grade, cut, purity level, etc. It's like buying a watch but you don't even know what movement it's using. So end up there is only bling factor on yr watch because of the diamonds but you cannot even admire the diamonds because you don't even know what kind of diamonds you have on yr watch.

Overall I guess you need to ask yourself yr purpose of having diamonds on yr watch because they come with a cost. Buying without a purpose is as good as wasting yr money. Just like if you spend thousands of dollars buying a mechanical luxury watch just because you want to own an expensive watch without appreciation or love for mechanical movements.

I do hope watch brands will start issuing diamond certificates for their diamond watches one day so that buyers know the specifications of the diamonds. They gotta let buyers appreciate what they are buying.

I agree with you Chronomat. If someone wants diamonds on their watch then thats their personal taste and preference. I neither mock nor taunt them for it. The OP has asked for opinions, and with the grace if God go I, my opinion is on the no diamonds side.

Although I must say Ron's tasteful versions do make an argument for themselves.

I just think on most, if not all Breitlings, there is that tool watch DNA, which diamonds for me, only gets in the way.

Some tool Breitlings are very cleverly finished to give them more than a passing reference to a more dress or formal watch et al Navi world, which is about as far as I would go. Where one starts and the other finishes is a don't know question. I would rather look at each individual watch on its merits, just in case someone has been clever enough to change my mind. Respectfully. Jim.

It's just how we roll. Anything anyone else inferred from the comment is just that.

He wanted opinions. When you ask for opinions you get both the good and the bad.

His comment that only woman should wear diamonds is no better or worst than your comment about people keeping comments to themselves.

I happen to agree with his comment and disagree with yours. Should I say you have no place making your comment because we disagree?

Actually, the diamonds Breitling uses are only Top Wesseltons (VVS clarity, E color, near flawless) and this quality is noted in the diamond certificates which come with the watch when purchased new. 8) I'll take a pic of the certificate for my Evo and post it here later.
Best,
Ron

He qualified his comment by implying "certain roles and responsibilities" are gender based ("she wears the diamonds") and because that's "just how we roll" their long and happy marriage is the direct result. Anything else inferred is just that. Not sure anything else could be inferred. :? No matter. I don't consider it a disagreement. Just his point of view to which he is entitled as we all are... :)
Best,
Ron

Wow...E color. That's extremely high grade and almost the best! I have Rolex ADs telling me before that Rolex adopts D color grade diamonds on their watches but so far I don't see their certs. I have asked about Breitlings before and the AD told me F or G grade. I hope they are not using those better grade diamonds only on the older models. Look forward to yr certificate pic..

Gentleman - My intent of the post was not to divide us. We all come from different walks of life and with that we share a good taste in great wrist watches. I do have mix feelings about diamond watches since as a society diamonds watches are more common for ladies (nothing negative but my point of view - you may disagree).

I'm contemplating the idea of a diamond watch purely based on my wife watch collection, almost all of her watches are diamond, gold or both. I see that she enjoys her diamond watches a lot and I started to think what if I had one? Would I enjoy the watch just as she loves hers? I do enjoy my collection but I don't have a diamond watch. I do find it a bit to bling bling but that was the intent of my post. I wanted your thoughts and experiences with diamond watches. Folks here that have them seem to enjoy them just as much if not more than their regular watches.

We all agreed in one thing - that is: If I liked it then buy it! It doesn't matter what other people think and after all I'm the person who's going to gear it. I really enjoy my complicated watches, but I BELIEVE I would also enjoy a show piece watch like a diamond watch especially a Breitling one. It has the complications and has that bling factor - a good watch to enjoy two different ways.

Thanks again for your feedback.
