One man's opinion based on whatever criteria he wishes to judge by.
Quote:
Gregory Pond, the observer of Business Montres and one of the most authoritative journalists in the watch industry, composed his own rating only among watch brands. He based the price of the brand on the following criteria: the range of circulation, distribution net, the growth potential, team’s creativity and the effectiveness of the management and finally the principal group of customers.

Based on these criteria, I would not have been surprised to see Swatch at #1!

how do you have Guess and Richard Mille in the same list of "expensive watches". this list has no credibility whatsoever imo with the word "expensive" in the title

There were enough spelling mistakes in the names of the manufacturers on there for me to not take any notice of the 'findings' whatsoever.

The reality is though that in the scheme of things Breitlings aren't that expensive as watches go. Well apart from Diamondworks and Mulliner Tourbillon silliness you're looking at no more than $20k for the vast majority of the stock Breitlings models.

Mr. Ponds criteria for “pricing” the brands in his article are “criteria: the range of circulation, distribution net, the growth potential, team’s creativity and the effectiveness of the management and finally the principal group of customers.” These categories are all very subjective and would certainly keep any discussion panel busy for days. I wonder who paid Mr. Pond to write that article? :huh

According to that list, Tissot is more expensive than Zenith.

this list DEFINITELY needs to be revised and CLEARLY UPDATED!!!

but then again it was made up of the price of the brand not so much the watch itself...

order means the price (or value) of the company or part of the company, that makes a specific brand of watch and the value is based on the yearly turnover of the company, or at least as I read between the lines. All the other criteria written in the article is just for fun. How else can someone estimate values in million Euros? That's the way Tissot and Guess can be at all part of the 1st 50.
Best regards: Robertus

Basically I think we can agree that list is a complete waste of time.
