I've completed the trifecta of Breitlings! I have one for daily wear, one with black shoes, and one with brown shoes now thanks to the incredibly thoughtful gift from my dad.

The dial on this watch is absolutely stunning. Can you guys help identify it for me though? I want to read up on it!

yes, it is real and one of the rarer members of the Premier line, a ref. 781, case was manufactured in 1946, movement should be a Venus 175.

I always hear horror stories I had to be sure! Haha. That is fantastic. Thank you for the information. I'll look up more about it; I am wary of opening the caseback just because I really don't have any expertise doing such things and would hate to ruin such an awesome gift

let a watchmaker do it, anybody who has the tools to install a battery in a snap back Quartz.

here's the page from the '46 catalog showing the 781 - and it would be nice to see the movement, as it is listed as a 15 lignes, so unsure what movement was used.

I'm in love with this watch! It means a lot to my dad and for him to have given it to me was something special. I am entirely new to vintage Breitlings - Can someone explain to me the following?

1) How often do I have to wind it?
2) How often do I have to have it serviced by Breitling? (It was last serviced ~2 years ago)
3) Should I actually have it serviced by Breitling?
4) What other precautions should I take to take care of it aside from not getting it wet?

Also where can I read more about this watch? It's gorgeous and I'm lucky to have such a piece.

wind it once per day - or more often, if you feel like it.
you'll feel a strengthening resistance when you are nearing a full wind, the feared "overwinding" is a myth, you'd need blunt force to do that. don't.
service every 5 years is more than enough - and no, no reason to send it to Breitling besides paying quadruple of what highly competent watchmakers are charging and wait almost a year to get it back.
not dropping it would be smart - watch most probably has no shock protection yet.
