Well I'll take all you guys word for it that it's fast - living in an area where dial up is the only option sucks!!!

I'm just happy that it's back up - today was a long day :lol:

Hey Roff, Can't you get that Bell satellite internet service? its just as fast as cable and costs the same out here. I don't have it but I have read about it.. its called WiMax

Yeah I know about WiMax - although it isn't widely available yet, despite what Bell's website has been saying for the last year. It's actually wireless rather than satellite. There is a satellite option with the old, ex military Ka band, but that's almost $2,000 set up and $150 a month for 256K.

The federal government sponsored program through Inukshuk (the suppliers call it Portable Internet or similar) doesn't reach us, although there is one fixed wireless supplier - it's just $60 per gig per month for transfer.

WiMax will be the best option when it really rolls out, it's usable range should be close to 80km, but it is line of sight.

Sorry boring people, can you tell I have some telecom clients :lol:

yes, maybe later.. I have spent too much time that I don't have right now working on the forum instead of my licensing course... when that is done, I will consider it.. and it will probably be in the new year.
