Hello all!

I have been lurking awhile, but this is my first post.

This site has been so informative in helping me decide on my first Ling. I have been back and forth a couple of times but have decided on getting a SA. My question is: Is there a difference between a black steel SA (which appears to be hard to find) and a steel bracelet SA with black dials/subdials (as seen on the Breitling website)? I am hoping to get the latter. I especially like the SA with the stick markers as opposed to the arabic numerals.

My local AD has not been helpful at all, much less informed than myself after reading through these forums. Can anyone offer a good alternative? Ultimately, I may wish to go through the group buy (when eligible).

Thanks to all for the valuable info!

JDA

Well, the Black SA limited, only available on Diver Pro rubber (unless you get an ProfII steel bracelet finished in black). I guess you could get it on leather or croc, but again you would have a polished steel buckle, unless the one from Diver Pro is used. The watch itself has the black coating, obviously. The dial is VERY similar to a Skyland dial. It costs $5500 and since its kind of hard to get, I don't think you'll get too big if any of a discount.

The new SA in steel with black on black dial and stick markers is a bit hard to get still as it is very popular. However, it is doable and you can get a decent discount on it, maybe. On a ProfII bracelet, it is $4550 retail. I think the steel is the one to go with, especially if you are planning on wearing the watch at all times and are kind of rough on them. The black coating on limited piece is very scratch resistant, but will scratch at a decent impact. It is really personal preference, but that's my opinion.

I agree the LE is not for me. I definitely want the steel bracelet, so the black steel is out. That makes my choice easy. I am from upstate NY. Might try finding a dealer in NYC next time I am there. Otherwise, I have heard great things about the group buy.
