Alright guys.. today is the big day. I will initiate the changeover sometime this evening, when the traffic dies down.

At that point, the forum will be closed down and no one will be able to view or post anything. I will then change the DNS and copy the database over to the new server where I will activate the forum. After that, its a matter of when your ISP gets the new DNS information as to when you will see the forum back up again. So far with my server it has been about 18 hours for most of the sites.

So hopefully the site shoudl be back running tomorrow evening some time.

Oops I made a booboo and reactived the old server, I was wondering how it started resolving so quickly.

NOW you are on the new server if you are seeing this.

Some post might have been lost if they were posted in the hour or so that the old site was back up accidently.

Absolutely. I am finding this new server is incredibly fast. It was definately worth all the work.

Best thing.. its scalable. If it starts getting too much for the amount of users, I can expand the database capabilities without any downtime.
