I have just purchase my Skyland nearly 2 months ago.
It the blackface with polished links etc.

One question I have is the dial. Is this a matte finish and if so, I'm thinking of getting the Cape Cod cloths, should the dial be avoided then as it may end up polishing it??

Any thought would be warmly received.......

I guess youre talking about the bezel, right? (circular thingy that turns around the glass)..

Anyways, yeah, avoid that part unless you want it to become shiny. Also avoid the glass.

Also you mention the glass.....avoid it (inother words dont get polish on it)?
Wont you get any on it anyway when polishing near the screws of the bezel?

Not if you're careful. You can always use masking tape to make sure.

You can pick up a package of "sticky dots" (different sizes) from any office supply store and use them to mask the crystal. You certainly do not want the polishing cloth to come in contact with the Anti-Reflective coating on the crystal. The compound in the cloth is quite abrasive and will ruin the coating. Further, do not let your fingers accidentally touch the crystal if you have any of the cloth residue on your hands else you will likely permanently smudge the coating. A little excess of the compound on the brushed part of the bezel while polishing the polished edge and rider tabs won't hurt as long as you don't rub the brushed part of the bezel. Actually, you would have to really rub hard for quite some time to "polish" the brushed part so that's why it is not such a concern. Wash the piece thoroughly with luke warm soapy water (a few drops of hand soap in a glass) and a soft bristle toothbrush. Use the brush around the bottom of the bezel, turn the bezel a little bit and repeat. Rinse the piece well in cool running (don't blast it!) tap water and blot dry with a dishcloth. Final polish with a microfibre (lint free) dry polishing cloth. Hope this helps... :)
Cheers,
Ron
