Good night everyone,
I am planning on seeing this Montbrilliant hopefully over the weekend but had a few questions. I am newer to fine watches, and so need expert advice to avoid a mistake. I believe this watch to be all original and correct unless I'm missing something. The seller indicates that the watch was purchased ~3 years prior and was never worn. Now my questions.
1. Would this particular watch still be under warranty? It appears the warranty card was not stamped by the dealer, which makes me believe it was purchased from an unauthorized dealer. Would Breitling still warrant the piece?
2. What is the risk associated with no warranty in this situation?
3. Would it need to see Breitling for a service given it's now 3 years old even though it was never used?

If this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it. Thanks
for your help, much appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum! The Datora is a great piece and I'd love to own one someday. The watch when purchased new would have come with a 2 year warranty, so that would be expired by now. No risk, as long as it's running good. It will eventually need a service, although they typically go 5-7 years before actually needing a service unless something goes wrong. This one looks minty though, shouldn't have any problems, although one could never be certain. Chances are pretty slim though that something would go wrong with it any time soon.

Thank you for the welcome. I agree, it appears to be in mint condition.

I suspect that it is more than 3 years old. It may have been originally sold 3 years ago, but that's different. Check here for dating it - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_dating.shtml and given that service needs are driven by the breakdown of the oils which occurs at a predictable rate based on age the fact that it may or may not have been worn is irrelevant to the service interval. The good cosmetic condition will eliminate the need for case refinishing which will lower the service cost, but isn't an indicator of whether it needs one.

I doubt that it was originally a grey market piece, that generally means no warranty book, more likely that a 'helpful' AD tried to assist the original owner by leaving it blank so a different date could be filled in if there were problems slightly outside the warranty window - something Breitling frowns on (understandably). Absence of dealer stamps is a common oversight. As Matt notes the warranty was only 2 years away so doesn't apply to this watch.

As you posted in the replica section, just to confirm, it is 100% original.
