Hammond is left in the Rockies , using his watch to send the signal and wait for rescue....

Ok so it was secondary to the feature of the car test, but it worked and gave his location. And then the battery died after 24hours....

Haha. Yes spotted that too.
Looked good though.
Wonder was AMJ involved or BUK?

For those watching who don't understand, it looked like the Breitling Emergency failed as he never got rescued!

Haha but they did say that they were cancelling the rescue helicopter, so that they could drive to rescue him.

I noticed that in the credits, cospas sarsat got a mention so they must've been involved in some way.

24hours isnt all that bad for a wearable Epirb ?

a typical SOLAS Epirb lasts for 48 hours , but is hardly wearable :)

No, no, no the Breitling Emergency did not fail. It did exactly what it was designed to do - send a distress signal.
The distress call was promptly picked up by SARSAT but then the Clarkson rescue team was mobilised and everything went rapidly down hill.
Why? Because they wanted it to! That's what the TV audience loves and TV audience drive the ratings ;-)

C'est la vie, TV.

Just downloaded if from a bit....aghm, I mean streamed if from a fully legitimate pay per view site.
Hilarious, have not had such a good lough for ages :-)
Let's just say that it was not the Emergency that was tested here , it was Hammonds patience :-) :-) :-)

I thought it was great, I've loved the F-150 for a long time. Is it me or did they not mention anything about the watch other than the function?

Didn't mention the brand or explain anything about the watch other than some comment about the sort of people that wear that type of watch

Interesting to see the COSPAS/SARSAT monitoring room when the alert came in on the screen.

Yeah I thought as much, shame Breitling didn't get some publicity there. Although if guess if you want one a quick google would point you in the right direction.

The dial with "Breitling" clearly seen was shown in more than one shot.
Could it be that this was not an intentional product placement and they used the watch as an added drama element? Hammond is seen wearing a Navitimer in one of the studio shots. Perhaps he likes Breitling and using the Emergency was his idea?
Or Breitling simply did not pay enough.

That's what it looked like to me. I'm not sure that Breitling would have wanted a lot of publicity around the episode, because - although obviously the watch did its job and alerted Thunderbird 5 before the goons took over the rescue for comedic purposes - the larger impression was of a man stuck up a mountain for days on end, so in PR terms it didn't really have a positive vibe!

Hammond wears the blue Navitimer in a few shows, and also the episode with the Marauder he was wearing a white dial Chrono Avenger or Super Avenger. I couldn't see exactly what model, but the white dial and Pro II was definitely there.
