Hey owners of the superocean heritage watch

do any of u guys have any issues with the dial finishing?

I noticed the dial has a satin-like finish that converge towards the middle.

However, my dial has fine scratches or lines going horizonally that doesn't converge towards the middle. Under sunlight or a strong light the scratches are pretty obvious. These imperfections are visible only at a certain angle and at certain light contrast i can see these "scratches".

Am i being too picky on the finishing of the dial?

Would any of u guys be able to accept such flaws assuming it makes the watch unique?

I have already send my watch in once to the authorized service centre for a dial replacement for a scratched index. the watch ended up with oil stains on second hands and numerous dust particles in watch which i ended up going to a third party repair facility to touch up the job.

I am pretty sure i do not want to go back to the service centre again as i an pretty sure they will mess up the watch

Welcome to BreitlingSource. It will be a lot easier to comment if we can see the dial. I've not heard of issues with the dial finishing on these pieces.

the defect is beside the 2 o clock index, its a white line when i have my light shine directly against the dial.

however under normal lighting and normal daylight , its black in color , but i can see a slight distortion to the dial upon close observation..

would this be a issue to many of you guys here? :x

i am pretty sure i will not want to go back to the authorized service centre as they did a terrible job previously , asking for a 2nd dial replacment may also end up with more issues :x

Dilemma. Given your experience, I would certainly send it back.

The mark looks almost like a 'dent' as though another dial was stacked on top of it and the foot made an impression when moved. It's definitely worth addressing and I would go through an AD to take up your case. Non authorised service wouldn't be an option for me because of the potential problems with Breitling down the road.

You sent the watch in (under warranty?) and discovered the fault afterwards?

Either it's still under warranty and then you can send it back, all expenses paid by Breitling.

Or, you paid for the authorized service which automatically gives a 1 year warranty on the service. In the latter case, you can send it back, all expenses paid by Breitling.

I don't understand the reasoning to service it elsewhere. You would have to pay again for the job you would get free, and at an unauthorized service location that won't be able to source you a new dial (as Breitling won't supply them if unauthorized). And to top it off as Roff says, it will be really costly to seevice it next time at Breitling, if they even accept the watch, as there will be parts in your watch that are non-Breitling.

Selling the watch and hoping it'll be fine is just giving the problem to someone else, unless you are fully transparent in the deal. And with that transparency, I'd guess you'll get maximum half of the price compared to a "good" watch.

To me it's a no-brainer - back to Breitling and don't pay for the warranty fix.

i send the watch in to a authorized service centr previously for a scratch on the index, dial was replaced.

watch came back with numerous dust particles, oil stains on second hands , not wanting to risk them screwing up my watch any further , i send it to a third-party service centre to clean it up. i would rather spend a small sum to have it fixed rather than risk them mishandling my watch.

unfortunately after a few days, i found the "scratch" in the dial

just a update, i went back to the authorized service centre to have it checked out.

as expected, they claim they cant see any issues despite me showing the photos and giving them a detailed explanation.

there was a slight argument between them and me actually.

i guess i have to live with the flaw.

rather disappointing news in fact, probably my first and last Breitling

to be honest the actual watch in real life doesnt look that bad as the photo i have posted. the scratch could actually be one of the satin-finished lines going in the opposite direction ,thus appearing as a scratch.
