well, I'd suggest to pm forum member chronodeco, a watch restoration master many of us here trust to the fullest. Craig is NOT the right source if you want an "as new" restoration with service parts and do not mind so much not keeping the watch as original as possible, but if you want a perfect mechanical overhaul and a respectful, cautious restoration, he's the perfect guy.

assume most here will agree.

Latest from servicer Mr. Heist -- keeping dial and hands untouched, continuing with needed service to get the watch up and running. Hope to have pics soon (before) and later (after resto). BTW, would the mesh band have been standard on this 809 or leather strap w/ tang?

the early advertisements show the 809 on a JB Champion mesh, but it wasn't "standard", an option like several others.
