Anyone have any thoughts about whether the Chronomat Airborne will ever come with different colored dials, such as black dial black subs? I love this Chronomat, with the subdued bezel and lack of center square but wish there were more dial options.

The Chronomat Airbone was a test by Breitling to see if the "old" style Chronomat would sell better than the production model now. It is not a secret that the Chronomat is, together with the Navitimer, Breitlings flagship watch. Sales have been very, if not extremely bad in some parts of the world and a lot of people blame it on the design, being the bezel... So, they made a Série Spéciale in honour of its 30th birthday with an old style bezel. If sales are good, the idea is to change the design to the SE design. If not, well.... I have sold a few Airbornes in my shop but not more than I sold regular Chronomats so I have no idea what the outcome will be. I'll hear that in Basel I presume.

I was at an event recently at the Breitling Boutique in Sydney. When people were looking at the Chronomats i strongly pushed them towards the Airborne. So I've done my bit!

I continue to hold out hope that they will do away with the damnable rubber inserts and go back to the polished chronomat bezel that was present on the Crosswind. If Breitling did that at Basel and then started to offer rose gold bezels for the two tone chronomats, I'd empty my checkbook immediately.

My collection presently stands at 11....I'd like to add more. Please, Breitling, PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN.
