Over the next week I will be transitioning all my sites to a new web host as this one is completely incompetent, telling me that nothing is wrong with my hosting when over the last few days something is OBVIOUSLY wrong. I have already purchased the hosting account, and have decided to go with a reliable and scalable hosting solution in Media Temple.

The Media Temple interface and system is completely different than what I am used so I will do the transition process slowly. It will occur over the next week, so at some point you may see this forum be "Closed temporarily" which means that the forum is likely being moved. I will have to close the forum and back up all the posts and transition them to the new site at some point, where I will reactivate the forum. At this point, You will continue to see the old site until your DNS is updated.. this happens automatically usually. Can take up to a day.

At any rate.. I will post right before I actually do this, but I wanted to keep you guys in the loop and updated!

Cool! I thought it was on my end...it's been frustrating.

Thanks for being pro-active!

I've just spent the last 3 hours (of time that I don't really have to spend) trying to get backups of my site off the host. Their system is so screwed up right now that I can't even get backups, and it's been like this for a while.

I think back to the discussions we had about how easy this would be to do, and I laugh. This is going to be far from easy. Right now I can't even get my sites off there - their server crashes every time i try and download something from my ftp or shell. My hands are tied :(

Have spent another 6 hours today trying to get the data off and uploaded to the new system. This is only taking as long as it is because I have about 15 sites and about 15 databases that need to moved. The new system at Media Temple is confusing for me, and I'm having to learn a lot of new stuff.. its great, but at the same time wish it didn't take this long. I now know quite a bit more about SQL databases and doing stuff through SSH than I did before.

For now, it continues. I hopefully will have this up and running some time next week. The email is likely the one thing that will be disrupted for sure.

I am having a huge problem with how apache parses files now switching to the new server, so the entire site does not work at the moment on my test server. Been waiting on support for a couple of hours and then spoke with them on the phone. They are going to sent me a link to some stuff or something...

So far, we are not going anywhere yet.

I've spent all night last night and today trying to re-write 3 of my sites including this one so that they are compatible with the new server. The OmegaRolex site is going to be a bit difficult. I have transitioned about 4 of my sites, none of which you guys are likely to have visited, so this one will likely occur at some point soon.

Thanks bnewbie! However, it looks like all my hard work was in vain. It is very likely that I cannot make this work with this webhost. Actually this is affecting Paneraisource, Omegarolex and Breitling Source, not just omega rolex. I am working with the webhost right now to see if we can fix the problem.

If this cannot be resolved, I will have to find another webhost, and redo this process all over again. Fingers crossed!

I decided to bite the bullet and spent the night rewriting the sites. I have finished rewriting Omega Rolex and Panerai source and have changed the DNS on them. I really wanted to move to Media Temple as they are reliable and scalable so I can add a gridcontainer for my databases if they require more resources.

If any of you guys are regular visitors to Paneraisource or Omega Rolex (i doubt many of you are as they are pretty low traffic sites) let me know if you are experiencing any problems with them as they are built on the same platform and required the same rewrite as Breitlingsource does. They likely won't be showing the new versions up for another 6-12 hours as the DNS propagates.

I'll be transitioning Breitlingsource tomorrow as well as the last of my sites... so far only slight downtime for emails and the like.

I did notice that traffic has returned a bit to normal here, so the host may have fixed some of their problems...

Thanks for your efforts Admin.

I had also noticed that things seemed to be working a bit more smoothly here today.
