Interesting to see how many B50s are beginning to pop up in the sales corners in the different forums.
I hope this thing gets stabilised and under control soon.
Meanwhile those who have not had any issues, enjoy it to its fullest as it really is a nice watch!

Hi Guys. I bought my B50 two weeks ago. So far no issues. I've also really tested it well. Hopefully they have sorted the issues in the newer models.

Picked up my night mission from an AD in Atlanta, Ga. today. I was on cloud nine until a friend told me about some issues he heard of on some forums. I have 4 Breitling watches and have never had a problem so it never occurred to me that I might should do some further research to see if others have had problems. I have a big knot in my stomach. I absolutely love the watch but with a 7k plus price tag these issues are ridiculous. I don't follow forums much so I appologize if I'm beating a dead horse but did they do a re call on potential problematic watches shipped here in the states? Is it a certain serial number range or batch that were known for problems? I might have picked it up today but I have no idea how long the AD had it before I picked it up. Surely as reputable as the AD I got it from is they wouldn't try to pass off a potentially problematic watch I hope. I guess only time will tell. Geeez....

Hi Halo,

Breitling Uk got me my replacement B50 Night Mission within a week of taking back the faulty one (problematic crown issues...see other posts). I got the new one on Thursday with a complimentary gift I might add for my inconvenience and so far so good. My initial Night Mission was one of the first in the Uk so there may be something in the theory that the original batch was the problematic one.

Locking the crown on three pushes can still be a little hit and miss but I wonder if thats just a technique thing rather than a fault.

I'm monitoring it anyway, it's a fantastic watch.

Thanks to Breitling Uk and Owen and Robinson in Leeds for sorting promptly.

Chris

Hi Chris. Do you think the crown issues on the first watch could be just misunderstanding how the system works on your part or was it actually faulty ?

Not for nothing and not to belittle Breitling Fanatic's question, but several of these crowns have actually come off the watch! That's not a user "misunderstanding," that's a Breitling "mid-engineering" issue. I hand delivered my B50 to Breitling Service in Wilton three weeks ago. They said they were sending it to Switzerland for "evaluation" and I would get a call. Well, the only calls I had were three that I initiated with them (they didn't call me) and each time, no news! That's unacceptable for a major brand, a high-end ($7100) watch and what is apparently a major problem with a brand new design. As I have mentioned in previous posts, Breitling is a king in the industry. When things like this happen, it's nice to be the king! You can do whatever you want, and let the customer eat cake.

Hi Emile,

On the first watch- absolutely not my fault. 3 serious design floors in my opinion (read earlier thread). 2nd watch is a little more grey but enough to make me change to an Emergency 2

:D

Govberg has a pre-owned one for $4750. Nice price, considering retail is over $7k. But, the feedback here has me thinking this watch had problems and the original owner bailed.

I may stop in to check it out, though.

Hi guys,

Just to add to the discussion re the B50's.

Thanks to one of our members here (he knows who he is ) I recently purchased a B50 Night Mission from my BUK AD. Its a stunning looking watch, especially if you swap out the rubber strap for a Breitling Military in olive green 8)

Its band new and had been on display for 1 day when I purchased it, and was one of four B50 watches received in my AD's group last week. I knew from the forum that there had been some issues with the early releases, however my AD assured me that as far as he was concerned the current stock were all ok and the early production issues had been resolved.

Anyway, fast forward 6 days, I decide to charge the watch as Im was making a trip abroad, and it refuses to charge. Changing the charger (Supplied adaptor/Apple adaptor/MAC USB Port) made no difference. The screen says "Charging" but the battery does not charge.

The watch now seems to have gone into deep sleep mode (hands parked, second hand at 12 o'clock) and no amount of button pushing will wake it up. Official method for waking a sleeping watch is to charge the watch. As mine is not charging, its now in deep sleep and Im unable to wake it

Not happy, my AD is very apologetic and I have to take the watch back to him when I get back into the UK.

So it seems that even having a recent release watch is no guarantee that it will be fault free.

JW.

JW:

Hate to say it, but I had the EXACT SAME PROBELM that you describe here with two "interesting" additions: after I tried charging through the USB--which it wouldn't do--I plugged it into an AC outlet. Still no charging, but it seriously heated up and went into "sleep" mode. I tried the USB again and at the same time (no pun intended) twisted the crown to see if that would help. Surprise!! The crown came off! I drove it to Breitling Service in Wilton, Connecticut. From there, they shipped it to Switzerland on 5 January stating that they would notify when as soon as they got an evaluation from Switzerland. Since then, I have called Breitling in Wilton three time (because they don't call me) and each time they have no "evaluation" for me. So, no watch, no evaluation, lots of dissatisfaction.

I must say that this is not Breitling Service USA's fault--their hands are tied because Breitling in Switzerland, since 5 January, has not given me the courtesy of a prompt response to say, at minimum, the watch has been evaluated and it will take X weeks, etc., to repair it. Hard to imagine the lack of customer care from one of the world's biggest, most reputable watch brands. Truly unacceptable. A short while ago I called Breitling USA for an update, left an VM, and am waiting for another non-response. My next course of action is writing a letter to The Haggler in The New York Times. Maybe that will shake the tree.

I've had mine for two weeks now. It continues to jump functions despite the crown being locked. This has to be some issue with the watch, given the series of steps required to get it into this state...three quick pushes, twist a couple clicks, then three more quick pushes to get back to being locked.

If it were in fact due to spurious crown-pushing during wear, I would expect to occasionally find it with the hands parked (since that only requires two quick pushes), but I have never found it in that state.

I don't know what bothers me more...the fact that this great looking watch is a dud or the lack of recourse/customer service from Breitling. I'm reticent to send it over the water, especially given that my other everyday watch, my SuperOcean, is also currently visiting BUSA for being SuperFast.

I was going to suggest reaching out via LinkedIn, but the thinness of most of their profiles leads me to believe their presence there is simply perfunctory.

Got tired of the function jumping while locked, so I dropped it off at the AD over the weekend so it can take a much needed vacation in Switzerland. Actually, I swapped it for my previously too-fast Superocean that just finished up its own vacation in CT, satisfying the Law of Conservation of Watches. :)

Based on Al Taylor's most recent thread hopefully Breitling will be able to square away the B50 for good.

Any word from your AD on how long to expect your B50's vacation in Switzerland to last? Just trying to compare notes on a timetable.
