Hi all,

As I was searching for information on early Chronomat ref 769, I found what it is supposed to be rarest versions: one with three registers and one with moon phase at 12.
Very nice pieces but I did not find many information about them.

Is anyone here has one of these rare birds?
Would you know how many of them were produced - what was the production year?
I saw that it was during the 40's but did not find more details...

Thank you for any information.

Regards,

Nicolas

H Nicolas
please post pics as I have seen fakes / frankens of this watch

ideally I would like to see a dial shot, inside and outside of the caseback and a movement shot

and yes, they are very rare !!

these are three distinct models, the one w/ three registers is a ref. 786, the moonphase plus date version is ref. 801.

no production numbers are available, both models were, as far as available specimens indicate, wre inly produced in the mid 1940s - or at least all cases we have seen bear serial numbers from that period.

only a handful of both have survived.

Thank you for answers.
I did not know specific ref numbers, it's interesting.

René, I was especially thinking of pictures I saw in the catalogue of Chrono24 auctionata 05 august 2014 (lot 6) but I have the feeling that this is a redial.

http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/286 ... ch-ref-806

Anyway, the sale is closed and I did not find any other example for sale for the time being ^^.

I'd pass on that one

-: dial and silderule ring reprinted
-: Crown incorrect
-: 'B' Breitling on the caseback inside seems incorrect
-: (as Eric says) 806 on the back ??????
-: Ive never seen an '18K' stamp on the lug before

+ lug form incorrect
+ sliderule width and dial diameter incorrect
and more

looks like somebody had a Venus 184 movement and "built" a Chronomat Moonphase.

here's a ref. 786 for you, Nicolas; happy hunting ;)

Some of those Auctionata lots are awfully creative aren't they... This is gorgeous Fred, I might just add the photo to my "get lucky" list.

yes, they are. Could make them withdraw some pieces, but they were adamant this "806" was correct.
Rob has left auctionata, so I'd expect it to get worse ....

good luck w/ that 786, Eric; we've seen two correct examples over the years, this being one of them; but remembering the 817, you'll probably find one tomorrow ;)

Very very niece piece Fred!

Only two in several years!? That makes it almost impossible to find!
I will open my eyes and learn so that if I find one one day I will be able to check if it is correct or not.
Who knows! :)
