Together with the ref 807 (The Chrono version) this is where it started, in regards to dive watches , for Breitling

The ref 1004 , still on its original mesh strap as pictured in the ad's we know
I havent opened it yet so I am not sure of the serial number and thus the year but 1958-1960 ?

(sorry for the composition / disappearing strap Fred ;)

Fantastic piece, the archetypal Breitling. Congratulations on a beautiful pick up.

Congratulations Rene.
This is a very nice reference that i did not know before.
It seems in very good condition!

Browsing the internet, I saw that the bezel is particularly convex and gives a very interesting look with the domed plexi!

For my understanding, would you know how many were produced?

No idea , maybe a few 100 or up to a 1000 ?
but the important question is , how many are left ?

since these were used as dive watches , without screw down crown , and the number of watches I have seen over the last 15 years . I have seen 5 -7 watches for sale and parts of another 3 (bezels , cases etc)

I am guessing 50 max are left , 40 of which are in drawers somewhere and the rest thrown out or disposed of when they couldnt be repaired anymore or simply thrown out over the last 50 years

Thank you for your information René.
Thus, it makes it almost impossible to find! ^^

Not really Nicolas , Fred has one as well ;)

But yes , if you think a 54-55 V72 is hard to find , try to find one of these in acceptable condition

Very nice, I wish the current mesh bracelet had the same end links as this model.
